I have been playing WoW since 2004, I’ve seen the rise and fall and have been through the ups and downs. It’s no secret that shadowlands was not well received, and the primary cause of this was the refusal to listen to the player base when they pointed out issues with the beta. A large portion of the player base both at the “hardcore” and “casual” levels of the community knew that being locked into a covenant was just flat out a bad idea. Blizzard didn’t listen, they wanted to stick to their philosophy and it cost them greatly.
Now we’re here. Seemingly in the same exact situation where Blizzard is being stubborn with LFD that, as you can tell on the forums, trade chats, reddit etc., is still a hot topic. The discussion is clearly not over, and it feels like the community is just being completely backhanded for speaking our mind.
Please don’t make the same mistake, at least throw it to the players, give us a chance to vote.
I agree entirely. What is worse is they are now removing threads based on RDF. My thread on RDF has been flagged as SPAM. Absolutely no way I am going to fork over $50 or $60 for Dragon Flight for a company that does not value my opinions on their forums.
I’ve certainly been vocal about how much I dislike Retail, but the copium of “Retail’s totally failing you guys!” gets pretty boring after a while. Facts are the Retail expansions have continued to sell and have high numbers of active subs, but we all love to compare it to the critical mass that was WotLK and call it a failure for not hitting those impossible heights again.
He wouldn’t be wrong. Activision has been very good about monetizing the game. Sub counts might not be where Wrath was, but they are making a crap ton more money. They finally did get to the point (shadowlands) where people legit revoted and they have responded with “yea, we get it” and are trying to take dragonlands in a different direction.
Quit! If you don’t like it, quit, and bring all those who care about Dungeon Finder with you. Show them!
I was personally not really on either side until so many threads about people complaining about lack of “RDF” hit the forums day after day, and now I am very anti-RDF, because I’m sick on the complainers.
Exactly. I can play (and do play) Retail whenever I want, especially if I want such convenience features.
That is exactly the opposite of the reason why I play Classic. I am of the opinion of keeping Classic Classic, and not Retail. We have both, so no reason to make them converge.
If you were here since 2004 you saw the flying fiasco. The one where blizzard said they knew the majority wanted flying but were going to try to kill it anyways, and lied about being able to reenable it on the flip of a dime if their ideas didn’t work out. Then when their ideas didn’t work out it turned out they lied and they couldn’t/wouldn’t just reenable flying. And then did so in a super passive aggressive way.
