99% of dungeon groups are waiting for tanks

No they’re pretty underplayed. Tanks are pretty frequently the last role filled even in dedicated teams

I find it rewarding. You’re more likely to be looked at as a leader and get more respect as a tank. At least in my experience.

No, in dedicated teams, you have two, and like four more that want to tank, and like three trying to apply as soon as spots open up.

Normal or Heroic?

I tank, but it took me a bit to get the ilvl to get in Heroics since Normals don’t give you enough ilvl to get into Heroics. I had to go do world stuff

They can be good in PvP, it’s just the non tank PvP players cry like babies when they get pwned by tanks in PvP.

I was hoping for an epic tank item or something to make people play more tanks.

Your team is not the common experience

Regardless, it’s not relevant to my point anyway - that being that whatever nerf OP is talking about isn’t the reason for the lack of tanks

I used to heal and tank both in Player verse Environment and Player content. I did this up to 2016 at which point when I came back to World of Warcraft at the start of Shadow Lands, I stopped being a healer and a tank for groups due to the toxicity of players. I only do either of those positions now when I help on a World Event.

Would I perform either of those positions again, maybe but I don’t belong to a major guild and don’t really look to removing myself from my personal guild. I also have no in game friends and with having had two fingers amputated it makes performing at my best more difficult compared to a normal player.

I have zero wait time as I am the tank.

Yeah, just let the role stay immortal and trivialize all content… Obligatory /s.

They no longer need loot from M0, so that’s obsolete.

Next week you won’t see them in Delves either.

BIG agree! It’ll be even worse on Tuesday when all of the good players live in M+! That’s where I’ll be =P

Not only that, the players now want to make post and then make comments on tanks and kick the tanks that are learning.

I make my own group and pick who I need. They can stay in que.

I have tried pugging and its impossible to just join random M0s right now and expect a completed run. Only the last boss gives crests and that is the only thing of value for me now so yeah no thanks.

DPS are not kicking anything. Many are way too low on damage. Healers are not dispelling and keep forgetting tanks sometimes need heals on trash now instead of never…

On top of that everyone is learning new mechanics. I wiped 10+ times on the last boss in City of echoes before giving up and just slowly killing it myself. 6 minute fight at the end of a 40+ minute run… no thanks.

Sadly delves are easy heroic vault options so it may be another week of running them with M+. After that we should be free from that nightmare

this right here is why

Tanking has always been fun for me and it still is, generally speaking. I’ve been tanking dungeons and raids since the Burning Crusade.

The main thing that makes tanking pugs not enjoyable is DPS doing stupid stuff. DPS doing stupid stuff has been continually rewarded over the years by Blizzard dumbing down the content until it’s a non-stop faceroll. Then you get into mythics and nobody knows the content, including yourself!

Normals are supposed to be easy, yes, but they should still provide enough resistance for aptly geared players to learn mechanics. Not even heroics provide enough resistance going into mythics. Nobody knows what the hell they’re doing, what the mechanics of the mobs are–let alone the bosses–and then they blame the tank and healer because for some reason you are magically supposed to know what you’re doing at all times so the DPS can mindlessly faceroll.

Anyway. I still enjoy tanking, even pugs most of the time, but there is a lot of toxicity in the playerbase and it makes playing any class or role less fun.

I thought about getting back into Tanking, But then I thought about it…

  1. Can’t learn jack all from follower dungeons (and the e-peen heros will say learn there)
  2. If you don’t go the exact path others want they cry
  3. If you are too slow they cry
  4. If you are too fast they cry
  5. If they pull and die, they cry
  6. Basically no one wants to babysit 4 other adults who can’t act like said adults.

So we sit in ques and sign up for 30 dungeons as dps.

Also, taking away tanks ablity to soak damage and self substain has made the role in General harder/less fun.

How long till Healers are in short supply as well…

I had high hopes for this expansion, Its good on most levels, But the amount os stupid crap they have done is also killing the fun of it all.

its because people abuse tanks for the smallest mistakes and its a huge responsibility.

this is the only thing that matters, everything else is not worth discussing.

what lfg basically is, is a way for casual and bads to get carried through content. if blizzard wants their bads and casuals to be carried by other players, give the carries actual good rewards for doing so.

they could create a carry lfg role, give appropriate rewards for the carrys, everyone would win from this. literally zero downside because this already happens, its just currently carries in lfg dont get rewarded.

In my experience so far, its tanks overpulling getting themselves killed in the process. I don’t really see Tanks being treated like crap.
