5000 is nothing. they need to 10x the reward if they want actual tanks to carry noobs in lfg
and thats what it really is, the role reward is just a way to say hey, noobs need to be carried, get in here. except why would anyone do it for pennies as reward
we can literally make TONS more selling carry runs

Tanks just graduate out of the queues and never look back lol

Well, to be fair, after they’ve run with me, I can see why they’d be waiting for another tank.
Dear Libram slash Diary, I am very sorry for getting my lovely group Murder-Death-Killed in Dawnbreaker last night…repeatedly

Toxic community is the reason for tank shortages. After WotLK I stopped tanking because the community kept getting worse and I refuse deal with sellf-entitled impatient brats with nothing better to do than blame everyone else for their shortcomings as a player (and a human being), so I don’t tank now unless with RL friends or guild mates.

I might not be the first to point this out…but of course 99% of the groups waiting are waiting for a tank.
Because 100% of the groups running dungeons already have one. And tanks don’t need to wait, so of course you wouldn’t find them sitting there looking for a group.
It’s like a bad survivor bias meme.
It’s not about tanks being needed, it’s about how they’re treated.
They’re trying to learn a new spec or maybe even a new role if they’ve never ranked before and everyone else is like “hey man we don’t need you figure it out later…”
When are they supposed to learn, serious question.
-
Follower dungeons give barely any experience and the AI is still questions.
-
Rotation on a dummy teaches that but not the flow of combat or dungeons.
-
They may not have friends in game so they can’t make their own group and chill.

anyone who does this = kick.
ain’t gonna start that crap. i’ve already kicked a boomie over it
bc the tank was newer and he was being a pita over a levelin dungeon.
The thing is, pretending that something is needed doesn’t work well.
People play as the game demands them to.
Tanks learn the same way healers do - by actually doing the content, and failing when performance is inadequate. Just like DPS.

FAIL can mean first attempt in learning. it can be unsettling when worrying about others too, but it’s generally the first step to making improvements.
And Holy Light have I stress-tested failure.

I just don’t think most people are willing to put effort in after a bad experience.
To be quite honest I don’t have a good answer, I don’t think anyone does which is why there is a shortage.
People really think tanking is harder than it is though, I have all six and other than knowing routes and using more defensives I feel it’s almost the same as dps.
I stress way more as healer
The BDK nerfs didn’t even do anything, they just made them more spiky and now they can’t spam Deathstrike on the boss. Other than that, you still spam Vamp Blood and then spam heal yourself with Vamp Strike.
The Deathbringer BDKs are probably squishier. Too busy maxing their DPS.
There’s no fun in healing without possibility of death.
i dont tank but my boyfriend does, and consistently he gets kicked for not overpulling in LFD. “big pulls” “bigger pulls man”, and then not 10 seconds after gets kicked. can’t imagine that to be fun

As a healer I can tell you I’m not happy
This is why now, as a main prot warrior, not a pro but not a bad player. I do around mythic 0s up to +4,5. I make my own group with title and label like : Chill vibes, learning or stuff like that. I rarely or almost never get toxicity. But when I use the LFD tool to do heroic, its so annoying having to deal with those ADHD healer or dps trying to pull for you. So now I rarely queue in those. I’m sure I am not alone so that’s why queue are long for them, but they chose it that way!

I pull stuff in irrelevant content so I have fun or to make it end faster so I can go do something fun.

They made tanking easier for a while and I did it then. It was particularly easy to be a bear tank so that’s what I made. Tanking is just too high-skill for me or I’d happily do it, I don’t even care about satchels.
Maybe a lot of people won’t admit that they’re in my same boat. But they must be or there’d be more tanks.

Class can’t, and we don’t need one.
Not for heroics.

Not underplayed.
Under-represented in Qd content, mostly due to the toxic social factors that come with tanking for randoms.
