Detangling over a decades worth of code to allow cross faction play isn’t a small patch. It’s pretty huge for a .5, considerably.
I missed wow so much I started playing TBC Classic again. 1 hour and a half BG later and I’m good. I’ll wait…
In terms of an update, yeah you’re right it isn’t that big, but remember they are also adding season 4 here soon in a month or so to this update just not now. So that will have changes and more content too.
Simply put, I’d rather what little development resources they still have go towards things that help everyone. If this is just step one and they do actually plan on expanding it to the random finders among other things, then they should say so.
Why do people act like the undoing of the faction separation is all being coded and hashed out within this maintenance period?
Even if this is something that’s difficult to do, you don’t plan for something like this, and then ONLY work on it the day it’s supposed to be released.
You get it ready in advance.
Lack of adequate preparation isn’t an excuse. If I had a huge amount of code to overhaul and a deadline for when it had to be done, I’d be fired if I did nothing until the day it was supposed to go live.
Also, undoing something that was coded 20 years ago doesnt mean its 20 years worth of code… it just means it’s old… And again, code updates shouldn’t be happening within a maintenance period instead of before it.
I was going to post this pretty much but yeah im 7 hours too late to the party.
Imagine if every single patch required a new raid tier or landmass or dungeon. They’d be veeery few and far between
Why is this so hard to understand, getting something prepped and then releasing it on live severs is two different thjngs.
Like a restaurant doing a soft opening, because their staff was good in training but live people change everything.
Like a coach drawing up a play, once you stick live opponents in it’s not guaranteed to work.
Even other video games frequently do a Test build but when things go live more bugs pop up.
My body is like the movie Speed. If I don’t play WoW for a certain amount of time every day I will explode.
