Well theres also a rumor of an allied race hiding in the encrypted files. And some quests… and cgs. What else? Hmm, not sure, but they SURE did encrypt a goodbit!

Imagine the problems if there are major issues? It could be a stain for years to come.
If groups that are Cross Faction have issues like : disconnects, no or less loot drops, buffs/debuffs not applying… it could make people reticent to participate in it for months if not longer.
They really need to get this right. They should take all the time they need.
The cross faction. They are taking something that’s been in place since day 1 and changing it. This is not a minor change to the game, it’s huge. Even still, it’s 145PM et now, if I were a betting man, it’ll be up by 3 et. They’ve been pretty good lately on ending these extended ones substantially early.

not to mention, as stated in an earlier post, what if we pull a huge first pull in a dungeon, pop all our cd’s and wipe out the team? I feel like that is the most probable bug to arise from this, killing our own team.
I would imagine the cross-faction thing probably involves a field added to either the character or user databases to store whether one has opted in or not. Any time you update tables that big, it’s going to take time to run error/sanity tests on them.
Most patches don’t really need to touch the character/user tables. Even big .X patches usually just add stuff to the relatively small item/achieve/whatever tables.
20 Years 2 factions, and suddenly they’re opening the doors. This is not easy when the whole game has to be adjusted for this.
Remember there is only few instances where factions matter the rest is open for cross faction. We’re talking about tweaking stuff from ground up.
I think several allied races are getting additional quests and 2 I believe are getting mounts. This may not have a new raid or anything, but how many have farmed the new one out anyways? OP wants new content when maybe 10% of the players at best, and that’s probly way over, have done everything that’s out there. I don’t think we even have a new raid coming, and the SL story is pretty much wrapped up so we’re not getting much between now and 10.0 besides a new pvp and mythic season. Time to break out the lube and hit the mount farms cause this is gonna be a content drought much like WOD.
I agree, there’s nothing in it for Arms warriors. At my ilvl, I do less damage than all other dps classes that are less ilvl than I, sometimes 10 ilvl less. That doesn’t make any sense.
it feels/seems like this patch is a major pivot from how wow was into what it will be
if any of the stuff said about dragonflight was sincere s patch is the first step into “new wow”
season 4 is the patch who knows when that will come out

You had to run Attunements on every toon so I guess that’s the imaginary content they’re talking about which is ridiculous
I think every change that has ever happened on a patch day is basically pressing a button.
Do you think they wait for server maintenance on patch day to start making changes?

I’m just waiting to see if we actually get dark rangers or not. Leaning more towards “probably not” atm.
blizzard is delaying season 4 to stretch this no content patch as long as they can.
boy do i love waiting 6 hours for downtime during one of the most unbalanced seasons weve ever had. boy do i love incompetent developers incapable of any semblance of class balance
just curious… what level of knowledge of the game’s system architecture are you basing your “doesn’t seem to warrant” comment on?

Cross faction might be a big load on the DB which requires schema changes and rebuilding indices. I can’t say for sure, but it would make sense considering how much WoW seems to be written in ancient spaghetti code. I also assume they have a large number of smoke tests to run after deploying the code to make sure it deployed correctly.

Seeing it work on the real servers isn’t the same as checking it on the test realm.
