Does anyone know if they are doing a 9.1 and making a new way to get sockets? Or should I invest my time into grinding korthia and hope they dont disrespect it
considering they went out of their way to make season1 and season2 socket items season specific, I think its safe to assume season3 is going to require its own new item from the new zone rep.

would be nice if sockets dropped from doing pvp like arenas, bgs etc

Just run a level 9 torghast like 25 times and use the sould cinders x1000 to buy them from thr korthia vendor
As far as I have read, they implement a new and larger area with not before seen magic.
I would assume it’s like 99% save to say that they will continue the never ending grind in the new zone which will cause another 90% to drop the game.
Because when somebody ask you what you have done in your free time the last month(s) and all you can remember is “I farmed the whole time to get some sockets for my gear.”, only the most addicted players would stick to the game, not realizing what’s happening… 
whatever you wish for…just remember blizzard is planning this patch to last for a year. just think of them trying to keep you $ubbed and that is the system they will implement
Considering they’re moving crafting higher ilvl legendaries to the new zone/area in 9.2, I would feel confident this where you can grind new sockets too.

How far out is 9.2, deciding what I want to do.
Try SOM, come back to retail or continue new world.
