Gamescom will take place 8/25 to 8/27. Last wing of LFR will be released 8/24.
Should we expect to see any news about the game at gamescom? I wonder what blizzard have stored to put against Endwalker launch in late november. 9.1.5 maybe?

I doubt they have anything to show so fast, considering the almost nothing they had to show at blizzcon and the fact that they had a lot more time before blizzcon
Possibly. Activision is going to be at Gamescom 2021. Not sure if that means Blizzard Entertainment staff will be there. It’s possible. But it’s also possible that they won’t be there at all.
I do expect we’ll get news about 9.2 soon though. The last stage of the 9.1 campaign is next week (and importantly, that stage was not revealed on the PTR at any point, so we have no idea what’s happening with it) and they need to keep people invested, so they will need to reveal something within a month of the 9.1 campaign ending at a minimum.
At best, they will have concepts if anything. Or maybe a1.5 patch info.
I think that, if they gonna show something about 9.2, it will be the patch name/logo, explain where it will take place and what the story will be, and then show some art of the tier sets. Maybe a cinematic or something.
Probably not going to hear anything about 9.2 until like September or even October.
I like the positivity from people but there was a larger gap between launch and info about 9.1 and the fact they weren’t going through a lawsuit and major upheaval within the company.
They don’t have anything in the works to put it against Endwalker. FF will continue to be the most popular MMO and gain ground.
Then we also have New World in Sept and that will crush WoW where it’s really hurting. I got a month Sub to take me up the New World release then will just be playing that and my other game.
I’d say 9.2 is spring next year. Probably April.
New World is super niche, it’s not going to do as well as people think. Unless you are already a fan of that open world, sandbox kind of style, people used to WoW or FF14 aren’t going to bother with it for very long.
Preach’s video on the game came up recommended. So i watched a couple minutes. Didnt like the concept at all. Guilds owning pieces of land or similar. Instantly knew it wasnt tor me.
Actually New World has the potential to be one of the biggest MMOs. It’s not niche at all as it appeals to a larger player base then WoW because of the combat system. You get the Fortnite/Apex crowd due to the FPS shooter elements. It appeals to the ARPG crowd as well. Then add in the PvP elements which this game is doing horrendous on and boom. New world is a top MMO.
I’m excited and Blizz will have to learn to design a good game again because hardly anyone is playing this one now but in the next 2-3 months they will likely lose another 50% of it’s players.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if New World compete with FF in players and WoW drops back to 3rd place with a continued drastically shrinking population.
The combat system is garbage. You can’t cancel animations and half the time, even if you try to avoid, you are going to get hit because of that. Not only that, you combine that with the fact there is hardly no tells on what the mob is going to do, most of the time it’s better to just face tank instead of actually engage with their systems.
If they wanted an action style combat system, they should have just copied BDO’s. To this day, that’s still the best combat system in any MMO, period.
Wrong the combat system is great, let be clear the core of the combat system is great. It reminds me of Neverwinter which has the best combat system in an MMO and no tab targeting.
Now does the combat system need to be polished and worked on some? Yes but overall the core combat system is better than this game. So the game offers more to the players especially on the PvP side of things. Which is why you will get PvP players from here and also FPS type games.
The combat in this game is tremendously outdated I think for MMOs. If they do a WoW 2 there should be no select target or tab targeting. Time to get a more immersive MMO experience.
Wrong, the combat is trash. Anyone that says that combat system is good is fanboying, nothing else. There is no person that actually played the beta for a good length of time that can claim it’s good when the best strategy for dealing with it is to not engage with it at all.
I mean you are literally not listening to the point I’m making. This game has tab targeting therefor the combat system is trash and outdated.
Any game without tab targeting is a better combat system. Again it does need to be polished and worked on to make it better however just the fact that it isn’t a tab targeting MMO instantly makes the combat better.
Which is why Neverwinter’s combat was so enjoyable for an MMO experience. Really had a blast in PvP in that game.
Perhaps read what I said again
Not sure why you are talking about this game when I’m talking about New World lol.
Because it’s relevant and this thread is about what Blizz will do to stop losing players to other games like New World and FF.
I’m talking about New world too, it’s combat system is better than this game and reminds me of Neverwinter not going to repeat myself again. The trolls must be out early today,
Neat but WoW’s combat being bad doesn’t make New Worlds good lol.
Again you just ignored what was said. So good day. I don’t have time for people that can’t read and ignore points being made. Easy ignore here right back at ya if you can’t have a discussion.
You haven’t made any points. WoW’s combat is irrelevant in a discussion on New Worlds trash combat.
Going to disagree here.
I played BDO when it launched and it was okay, the combat system was okay, but in terms of action combat in my opinion there’s nothing better than Guild Wars 2. Which gets even better when you turn on the Action Camera which allows you to aim projectiles and other attacks with your cursor. It’s fluid, there’s no GCD, weapon swapping is intuitive and allows you to set up devastating combos and you have limited numbers of skills so you’re not going to get overwhelmed.
That said I do agree with you that New World is going to be super niche. At this point it does not have a decent PvE story. It’s one of those MMOs that is going to appeal to the PvP audience and the crafting/exploration audience, but if you’re looking for an MMO with a rich storyline that gives you something to strive for, New World ain’t it, and there are other MMOs that do story much, much better. So that’s one audience that New World will not be securing, which arguably is one of the biggest in the MMO sphere.
