If you want something that plays a lot like (but not exactly like) WoW, with lots of story mixed in, and a game that respects your time, try XIV. The first 60 levels are free of charge, which is probably at least 100 hours of gameplay, and by then you can make a well informed decision if you want to make that your main MMO or not. The only problem is that there’s so many people doing this, the servers are outright congested. Gotta give them time to get things sorted out first.
If you like bugs, bugs, and more bugs, try ESO. IIRC, it’s a pay once to play for free with optional stuff to buy, I think? I haven’t played it. I considered it but then No Man’s Sky just did this huge update and it’ll be awhile before I have any free time for that, lol.
There’s also GW2, I tried it but it just didn’t hold my interest. It’s F2P, with all the usual trappings that F2P has (grindy AF, lots of limitations on the free accounts, etc). I can’t speak for what the paid experience is like.
There’s also stuff like Destiny2, though I only played a little of it, it didn’t really hold my interest either.
It’s ridiculous to me how some people victimize themselves over a game. The whole “they treat their players so terribly” thing is just so dramatic.
When the whole harassment case came out I got so tired so quick of people saying things like “well they mistreat their players, it’s so it’s a no brainer they mistreat their employees.”
I’m sorry but no, a bad video game release isn’t an attack on you or your rights. It’s not comparable to almost any bad thing that happens in the real world. Grow up.
Wait. Lost arc is out? Why hasn’t steam notified me? I’ve been watching and waiting for lost ark since lazypeon did a couple videos about it. I think well over 2 years.

You should care because next expansion you will be playing a crap game for a year again until they implement changes we all gave feedback on during PTR for said expansion.
You are part of the problem as a player. Stop being satisfied with being fed crap then getting excited when they add sprinkles to said crap.

Being misled, and paying money for an inferior product is a legitimate reason to be angry, and a legitimate reason to be unhappy with the company and the product they are pushing, especially when they goad you into paying for a 6 month subscription, and then release a crap patch, and THEN, two months after said crap patch, they talk about how the NEXT patch, which will likely take longer than 4 months to release, contains all the stuff you wanted in 9.1.
I think the anger is justified.
It really does look like Blizz is trying to milk people as much as possible for their sub money. It seems like a mighty strange coincidence that it looks like 9.1.5 is going to come out very close to 6 months after their little shtick with the 6 month deal with that owl mount.
They baited players to 6 month sub for 9.1, then 9.1 came out and it didn’t actually fix many of the game’s problems, and then 2 months later, they’re going “BUT WE’RE GONNA FIX THE PROBLEMS!” and I am almost willing to bet money that they will offer another 6 month sub deal just before 9.1.5 comes out, to scam the players all over again.
EDIT: This kind of crap does not fly in any other business or industry on the planet. You absolutely cannot treat your paying customers like this in any other business, and expect to stay in business for long. So yeah, saying they mistreat the players is valid. The players are paying customers, and the way they are treating their paying customers is just absurd.

However, I’d say that they don’t care about the players. Not one iota. What they care about, is the the players’ MONEY . That, after all, is all the player base represents.
It’s nothing personal, it’s just business.

Every single cable company is worse than Blizzard. Most major power companies are worse than Blizzard. Most cell carriers, and most ISPs are worse than Blizzard.
You absolutely can treat your paying customers badly and stay in business. It’s the American way.
Yeah its the dif between a company that tries to make its customers happy with good service vs bliz: we try to make $$ without losing too many consumers.
Right and all businesses job is to provide exceptional customer service. A product that is awesome or provides and convenience. That is how businesses succeed. All businesses are in the business of making people happy. Period! If people aren’t happy the business will fail.
Right now ActiBlizz is failing because their product is bad, their communication and customer service is bad. It’s evident they don’t care about the players, so what happened? The players went and bought other products, they went to other games where they aren’t mistreated.
If Blizz wants to be a successful business they have to win back the customer/players trust and deliver something that is awesome that creates good word of mouth PR. Instead of the current don’t play WoW it’s not safe to play yet.

Reading through this thread I see that patch 9.1.5 is already working exactly as intended.

I like that they’re issuing half-patches. I don’t think the reason is that they’re scared. I think the reason is that they’re having internal issues that are slowing development so rather than make us wait an longer for the patch they are releasing the patches piecemeal. That lets content roll out sooner and keeps people from unsubbing until they see the next piece.

It’s more like… he doesn’t care, until she’s gone. He only cared about what he got out of the relationship, and didn’t really care to make sure that she was content, until she’s gone and he loses everything.
That’s exactly what I see happening here. They ignore us time and time again and then suddenly, a mass exodus happens and it’s “HEY WAIT COME BACK WE’LL DO ANYTHING!” and I wouldn’t be surprised that when/if the players did come back, that they’d just go back to what they were doing before 9.1 all over again. Just like an abusive spouse (women can be just as abusive, don’t single guys out).
Seems to me you whine an awful lot. If you don’t like anything about the game then take 2 weeks off and quit. Would hate to see you in the real world unless i was a tissue manufacturer.
