9.1 PVP gearing changes!?

are you that much of a loser in life?

You’re delusional. Rated battlegrounds had the most participants ever in WoD. It was so damn easy to find a group.

:rotating_light::rotating_light: hot take alert :rotating_light::rotating_light:

Careful everyone we’ve got a super hot take in here.

OK? What about the WoD gearing system was bad again?

Was it that it took so little time to get a decent honor gear set?

Was it because honor gear and conquest gear was too close together in power, making PVP too balanced?

Was it because there was no rating gates and eventually everyone could get conquest gear?

Was it because PVP gear was the best gear for PVP?

Was it because the gear had 2 real secondary stats instead of vers + one secondary stat?

Was it because conquest catch up was too fast on alts?

Was it because rating only got you more conquest each week and not gear that unrated players couldn’t get?

Please do enlighten us as to why WoD gearing was not good…

Last time that system was in place was either wrath or cata. From mop on to wod higher rating gave more conquest points, which people also whined about.

Also whined about having to do asheran to gear alts, whined that conquest gear should have been account wide, and whined that there were 2 tiers of gear.

People also complained that they couldn’t pve in pvp gear like s1 wod.

Wow, that’s insane.

While I don’t mind the current system as it makes you want to push rating, the WoD style system was definitely one of the best ones.

My only issue is I do like to run the occasional mythic or raid for a change of pace, sounds like this wont be a thing with a WoD style of pvp gear or am I missing something?

How will this work with class set effects making a return? I was under the impression we should be seeing class sets making a return in first big patch, but now I’m not so sure.

If it is exactly like WoD, then your gear will still work in PVE, but it will just be a lower ilvl. Without this limitation, PVP gear has to be gated by time/rating, and/or has to have a large ilvl gap in order to follow the PVE gearing curve.

Exactly and it depends on how much it scales.

If say the average PVE gear is ilvl 226 and PVP gear is 200 and scales to say 232, as a primary pvp player I am at a significant disadvantage if I want to do any PVE.

I guess its the same for PVE people going into PVP though.

Except PVP gear was a lot faster to get during WoD, so it was not really much of a barrier to entry for anyone. And PVE gear worked as is in PVP (aside from mythic raid gear which was nerfed a bit in PVP to keep conquest gear BiS)

Well, if you are just doing the occasional M+, or raid, you likely aren’t trying to push high keys or do mythic raids, so your PVP gear should be fine.

The more PVE you do, the more PVE gear you get.

We need to keep this at the top of the discussion board. Good news.

there are just too many diff ilvls of gear atm. im sorry you cant do the highest pve content with your 9.1 pvp gear but if you want to pve and pvp then you should have to pve and pvp.

Now I won’t have to compete against people wearing 226 pvp gear for m+ dungeons. >.> Fantastic news

I don’t get what all the hype is about. Aren’t boosters still going to be stomping others players with there 233 ilvl pvp gear??

post on ur main btw dozer

depending on how they handle it, no there wont be a significant gear advantage

and if you’re getting 1v2d by boosters in the game gear it’s because you made too many large mistakes and you can learn from your experience

In many cases, the only counter to the damage a geared player can do is to have more health to survive it to give you a chance to respond. You need gear (health) to counter gear.

Not at all, because you will have the same 233 ilvl gear. This will be the best thing to happen to SL PVP (unless you sell carries)
