9.1 PVP gearing changes!?

This would drive the casual away.
Pvp would be just for hardcore player.
Then rbg arena would just be boring meta class, fotm comp.
The fun is getting better gear as you improve.
Tittle and mount is boring.

weird

I don’t agree at all. In fact, I think the opposite. Meta specs have a huge advantage with the ilvl gap being so massive. Those specs are easier to get rating with, so they’re are also easier to get geared.

Gear being this strong, makes PVP worse in every way.

Lets hope in 9.1 they give this an actual go, I’m ready.

It’ll just shift the whining from gear to full investment into “Class X is broken” but we’re used to that already. Yea some stuff is still a bit over the top but if the gear change goes through and Blizz reigns in the meme damage some classes can put out, whiners still gunna whine.

If the Ivl gap is high for you then obviously it adds to the meta gap so a more geared meta will crush you. I also remember similarly/low geared locks In BFA crushing non meta classes with chaos bolt. The solution it seems to me isn’t gearing it’s removing the incentive for players to play below their “true” rating. There are two reasons people do it I think. First PVE players buying carries to get gear for PVE. Second, players tanking rating to make farming honor faster for upgrade purposes. The first is solved by upping the rewards for PVE content that were slashed coming into SL. A huge part of the market for carries will evaporate overnight. The second will be a much smaller problem that will also evaporate as everyone has upgraded their gear but can also be helped by removing the honor cap. At that point people will be mainly playing people of their same “true” rating and all this will be a non problem.

No, PVP carriers will still be rampant. If people just want to play unrated BGs, they will be facing rated players in 220+ gear. PVP gear having such a huge ilvl gap is the absolute core issue here, and that exists because “gear is gear”

Separate PVP gear, get the ilvl in line for PVP, make gearing faster in PVP. Give us real WoD gearing, and move on to balancing specs and classes better. 9.1 will be a resounding success. If they don’t do that, SL is done for PVP imo, and it will be another expansion where WoW gets saved because of Classic.

9.1 will be an opportunity for a new group of players to complain.

Yes of course. I think class balance will still be a hot topic.

I have hope though, PVP seems to be getting more attention than BfA (low bar, I know). They are looking at honor talents, they seem to be making more regular and minor adjustments to specs, rather than heavy handed changes with months in between. Not to mention the upcoming gearing changes.

The only worry is it will all be too little, too late. I mean, it wasn’t as if the player’s hadn’t pointed all this out to them during SL beta.
