9.1 PvP Gearing and why it is BAD

Was always a dumb idea to not have all the conduits on a pvp vendor and upgradeable. For example stalwart Guardian conduit reduces die by the sword cooldown significantly and is extremely important in arena. Just another F up by Blizzard.

This is exactly what we all wish for in a nutshell.

I mean sure gear progression is nice and stuff, but there shouldn’t be ilvl discrepancies tied to rating. It should just be honor set and conquest set (and maybe if required an elite set which has improved aesthetics with slightly/reasonably higher ilvl).

Bumping this in hopes that it gets enough attention outside of all the tweets and videos that exist already.

Yeah, the power gaps don’t necessarily need to be eradicated… just controlled. And, that would be incredibly easy for them to do without having to “reinvent the wheel” for what they have done in SL since they have caved on scaling gear for pvp.

Of course, it makes too much sense to do this so they won’t do it.

I’m hoping blizzard changes their mind on this (removing rating requirements) since there’s still time, but I’m thinking blizzard will double down on their current philosophy.

I’m going to bet we’ll see a blue post at some point (month or two from now) with them basically stating, “we feel the rating requirements are a great way to instill a feeling of progression in PVP. In legion, we want players to feel rewarded as they climb blah blah, (not getting the problem) …blah blah…arena participation has been excellent…blah blah”

I’ve found blizzard is extremely stubborn when it comes to admitting their mistakes, especially in the short term…instead of listening to feedback, they usually double down on whatever their philosophy is until 1-2 years later when it’s become blatantly obvious they F’ed up.

As mentioned above, people need to stop hoping for this and pushing for the gaps to be tightened instead. One is absolutely not going to happen. The other might if it is pushed.

Yea, I know that, but did they change anything in patch 9.1 that I overlooked? And if not, are they planning to as the PTR progresses?

I think that’s more because no one can fly in current zones yet.
Saw it all the time during the end of BfA, still saw it around Stormwind during SL.

I certainly still use it.

Yeah, but do you see anyone using the TBC season 3 warrior weapon??? The actual weapon, not the transmog???

^This, or as some other forum folks suggested a while back: keep the ilvl progression for outside of PVP, but have conquest gear all boost to the same ilvl in PVP.

Using current ilvl as an example:

Everything boosted to the same numbers:

200 in PVE => 233 in PVP
207 in PVE => 233 in PVP
213 in PVE => 233 in PVP
220 in PVE => 233 in PVP
226 in PVE => 233 in PVP

Or a minimal ilvl jump as per Stoopzz’s suggestion:

200 in PVE => 225 in PVP
207 in PVE => 227 in PVP
213 in PVE => 229 in PVP
220 in PVE => 231 in PVP
226 in PVE => 233 in PVP

And of course, have honor gear not far behind conquest. Maybe maxing out at 220 in PVP.

This is perfect. It’s basically WoD system, with some minor differences.

Yes, it’s a compromise between the people that want progression and the people who don’t want steep power gaps in pvp. It makes too much sense, so Blizzard won’t do it.

edit: Ah, thought you posted the other table. I think progression is going to stay in pvp. I don’t think they are going to back off of that. But, I think both work.

That doesn’t address the issue that PVP gear is too powerful in PVE though, which is one of the huge reasons that the original change is so good.

I have 3 other level 60’s I want to try my hand at in pvp.

Unfortunately I will never touch them since it takes so long to gear and I have limited time to play.

Well i actually meant to copy the second table xd my mistake there.

First, THANK YOU! For making this post. I completely agree and I’m so glad we got a lot of people in the community making this known.

Personally I don’t even care if the PvP gear ever reaches PvE levels, I just want PvP to be on an even playing field.

Being able to bring the PvP gear into PvE is a plus but not an absolute requirement for me but as you said… Apparently PvE people have a problem with it so whatever.

People didn’t like templates because some classes got shafted with the wrong stats. BFA complaining was mainly at the stat differences between gear, which some of the stupidest ideas were implemented. Like Trident of the deep and spore pods. Shadowlands is just a mess. I hoped for it to be good, but if you don’t play the meta you’re not playing.

People always bring up I want to customize… Like Abom," I like to customize." I bet his main stat is versatility. There is no customizing unless you play with friends. Even then You’re forced the play what ICERY VEINS or some other rank 1 player recommended or you’re not going to find teammates. Once they inspect you, if you’re not winning, they’re going to say Oh you’re doing it wrong.

I’m a templates guy because I could log on and play arena. Love the story and the warcraft as a whole but, I ain’t got that kinda time.
