Agreed, they did this on purpose to encourage token buying. Pretty crazy they are that greedy.
This insane gearing disparity has ruined my favorite thing in WoW, which is casual screw around bgs with friends. Without that, I lose interest in this game pretty quickly because PvE only just gets boring quickly for me. I haven’t quit already because I newly found I enjoy this older character enough to do more PvE stuff with it, for now. I’m already getting to the boredom point though, so quitting time is soon.
If this worse PvP gearing system is implemented, I’m quitting, easy, likely for the rest of the expansion and whatever is after until they unruin PvP. It’s seriously sad how PvP is just an after thought that is basically getting ruined by decisions that aren’t actually for PvP. Just go back to WoD’s actual PvP gearing system.
The only changes I saw make pvp gear worse in pve. That’s not going to fix anything. Those of us who enjoyed doing some battlegrounds to relax after work without searching for partners or stressing over ratings are out of luck for the foreseeable future.
I had two accounts, one for retail and one for classic. I sat through most of BFA holding onto the account while playing classic. At this point I deleted my retail account that I’ve had since 2006. That’s how much faith I have in them fixing this mess.
Hello? Activision are you listening?
nice to bump into you guys again!
Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday, it’s sunny and beautiful down here in Florida. Where you at blue people?
it goes BUMP in the night …
Bumps til we get change
It’s super important that we keep talking on this thread. The pvp gearing system is absolutely awful and is probably the single worst thing in Shadowlands. For the sake of pvp living throughout the expansion and after we NEED to keep this conversation going until blizzard stops ignoring us.
I like the PVP but the mmr ranking system is literally fubar… whoever designed it should be fired and never work in a PVP department ever again… you would think Blizzards PVP department would have ONE SMART PERSON IN IT… but they all “woke” and too worried about the .005% LBGQT opinions of why wow is more gay friendly… what a joke Blizzard has become…
I wonder what benefit they’re actually seeing from making the gearing system the way it is? arenas are dead (don’t say that this season had tons of players) that’s only due to pvers getting boosts early on. I don’t remember a season falling off the way that s1 SL has. That is almost 100% due to the gearing system. Now, they make it so the gear is literally worse in PVE. that’s not going to help ANYONE. 2 SETS BLIZZARD, 1 FOR HONOR AND 1 FOR CONQUEST, THAT’S ALL WE WANT. If you INSISTTTTT in forcing us to upgrade it then it CAN NOT be rating locked, everyone deserves an even playing field in pvp, this isn’t pve. If you want gear to be upgradable then it needs to be farmable with mass amounts of honor (still annoying) but less game shattering than this abysmal system you have in place now.
le bump …
the main concern for me is that not all stat combinations are available via pvp or pve so having a staggered ilvl for each content limits the options that anyone can go for.
further, it makes having 2 sets of gear almost mandatory for both pve and pvp and there is no larger bags added to address the lego bloat filling them already.
the concept for gear ilvl scaling up in pvp isn’t bad on its own but it does create other issues.
instead of making this complex ilvl scaling gear they should just add the pve vendors like they had in MoP.
rework the valor again and add justice points. it worked just fine in MoP.
(And if they have the scaling gear then you then need to be able to see what your ilvl and stats are in both pvp and out of pvp)
and then does pvp gear also work in their scaled up state in world pvp? pve players will get destroyed if they try to do world content with war mode on and no pvp gear.
work tomorrow boys, what a shame.
We had a good run. See y’all next weekend.
^ you mean, see you tomorrow & the next day, & the next day, & the next day… until there’s change?
The level of hubris that Blizzard developers (specifically the WoW team) are pretty freaking high. And to an extent, they earned some of that ego with what they have created with WoW, but then it starts to look like the dev team acts and speaks like they know what’s best for the player.
The lack of communication from the developer team has always rubbed me the wrong way, and it’s even more glaring in today’s environment. I totally understand not wanting to have a back and forth. Gamers are an extremely challenging species to try and communicate with. But it would be nice if we got blog posts explaining/describing their design choices.
For example, “Here is why we feel the PVP system is working.”
9.1 isn’t here yet, so I continue to hold out some small ounce of hope.
5.2 MoP PvP gearing was borderline perfect.
I will be quitting the game if the gearing stays this awful. It’s not fun to face 214-226ilvl people in 1500s bracket. There is no way to learn and improve in pvp when you face people with such gear differences.
Bump +1, pvp gearing needs fixing
