Its sad, really. That a bunch of unprofessional writers have written better lore and speculation for this game than most of anything that has come out in recent years. Iā€™ve read through a lot of the speculative fan theories and suggested expansion storiesā€¦ and I was completely floored how much more preferable theyā€™d be than whatever this is.

Written better speculation, yes, but as far as writing better lore ehhhh, we need to be honest with ourselves that a lot of the walls of text people propose often arenā€™t necessarily ā€œgreatā€, theyā€™re just alternatives that usually push the pieces around but donā€™t actually make a more riveting discussion because they re-use the same fragments that most people espouse being bored of.

I say this self-deprecatingly as well, I know a lot of my ā€œTHEY SHOULD DO THISā€ re-reads like absolute garbage when I come back to it later. Its kind of like the ā€œModders having to ā€˜fixā€™ the gameā€ mentality - we probably didnā€™t need a Dark Souls bonfire save mechanism in Kerbal Space Program just because you wanted one.

This is why Iā€™m kind of over using ā€œbad writing because I didnā€™t like itā€ as a go to. Thereā€™s more than enough top tier dook bad decisions from the suits, community, and influencers that we can discus and dissect for the way things are.

Iā€™d claim I could write better and I do believe that. Whether I would write better is another question, since if I were given the opportunity to influence the story, WoW would probably be a romance-heavy political drama.

Starring me. As a plucky young assassin with everything to prove trying to make it in the big city while still trying to hold down a job and manage a relationship.
