9.1 is almost out

if you want to create your own realm in the Shadowlands, a lot of things are going to have to die.

is a plot line im currently exploring

If we get enough cannibal swords together to stand around Sargeras’s sword can we finally heal the woons?

Hm. The recent departure of some high-profile artists from Blizzard casts this in a new light.

So, elaborating on Thuum’s post…

Probably good signs 9.2 is last patch, the new zone patch is coming right off the bat.

If by light you mean vibrant turd colors then yeah

Is that the reason why the best thing Blizzard could come up with for repository of knowledge from gods that shaped all reality and should be beyond a mortal’s comprehension is a golem made of some floaty rocks, a couple grey stone buildings with some orange lines, and a couple of floaty ghosts with an eye?

I can open the Bible for a minute and find more “out there” descriptions of celestial beings than that (e.g Ophanim). Come on guys, you can do better…

Eh…

Separate shoulder transmog and glasses are nice, but it’s not enough to bring me back. From a “systems” point of view, a lot of issues that 9.0 had still remain. Legendaries do not solve the Covenant imbalances. Four of my legendaries would need recrafting from rank 4. Korthia seems like a discounted Mechagon. You get the gist.

I wasn’t really sure what to think before this point. I guess I had just assumed Shadowlands’ art was uniquely uninspired; a fluke that looked all the worse coming off the heels of the visual treat that was BfA.

But something’s going on with Blizzard’s art department.

Eric Braddock, the guy behind much of Kul Tiras’ visual style (including Boralus and Taelia!), was promoted to Senior Artist this March. And quit the entire company three months later.

That’s… a little odd.

Maybe they got tired of carrying the entire game on their backs for so many expacs, they’ve decided to phone it in like everyone else does.

Yeah, something is fishy there. Then again, I’m not that surprised anymore. I remember reading the anonymous interview a few weeks ago where multiple members of staff said they were “betting” how long Kaplan could still make it at Blizzard. Not in a “bad” way though. They all really liked him. It was just a “how long would this person with better options stay here with us?”

Same interview was when they said budgets, money and other factors began influencing development in 2018 when the previous tone was the complete opposite.

I suspect that Blizzard just got too bogged down in business levels to a point where it stifles most artistic processes.

What I find a bit sad is that he came up, conceptualized and pitched Taelia to the dev team himself. I fear that with him leaving and Danuser’s general interest in…well, not humans, Taelia will be sidelined after just half an expansion.

oh wow you weren’t kidding… his artstation shows Mr. Braddock did a lot of the concept art for Boralus… he even designed Taelia Fordragon, her look, her personality, even her backstory!

A man who cares this deeply about the world of warcraft doesn’t leave for no reason.

Oh, I’m certain we know the reason.

I’m still wondering when the next phase of Activision’s usual plan for closing studios will kick into action.

Where else do you send them?

Well. This is awkward.

I actually miss BfA.

It’s those long, knifey ears…

Elves are always acting like they know better and serve a higher cause, but really they just live too long and cause a ruckus and never reckon with their mistakes. They have become too unreliable and so the time has come for Azeroth to have a new species in charge of all the important stuff; nature, money, balance, profit, wisdom, stock diversification, etc.

They crave our limitless bottom energy. But it shan’t happen.

I’ve heard good things about 9.1 so I’m looking forward to it.

Hey, this guy’s on to something!
