9.1 further disenfranchises non-competitive playerbase

TBH, at some time you have to be honest with how good you really are. Me for example I don’t think I am a bad player, but I am in no way a glad or even KSM, so I am happy with the gear that I earned. If someone is sporting better gear than me, well maybe they are just better at the game.

You can. By doing the content that awards it.

There has never in this game’s history been a point where you could reliably farm the literal best endgame-quality gear by not engaging with high-end content. Maybe one or two slots here and there, but the three endgame paths are M+, raiding, and PvP. If you aren’t doing any of those, you neither need the gear for what content you’re doing nor are doing content that’s challenging enough to justify those rewards.

When you play solo you’re considered a solo player not a casual player.

1: everyone has the same content. Solo players choose not to partake in it.

2: you should stop using the term casual as you don’t know what it means.

MOP’s item upgrades were a great compromise system.

Valor upgrades in M+ would be too, if you didn’t have to run M+ to utilize the currency.

The world just needs a good-feeling progression system, IMO. That’s what it’s missing. Higher ilvl is the big request right now, because it’s all there is to shoot for, right?

I’d wager you don’t actually care about ilvl either, you just want the feeling of growing in power that things like scaling and the absence of progression in the world removed.

Nazjatar provided mana pearls, which were a good complimentary system. You earned some over time, you bought the piece you wanted, you could upgrade those pieces. It felt great. The only issue was the wonky bonuses that made them valuable in raid.

As far as we know, 9.1 provides no such system. Probably because people complained about the bonuses on the gear, and they felt like that was the same thing about complaining about the entire system.

I never claimed I was top 20 mythic raider level good. But I was literally among the top DPS in a US top 20 guild before mythic raiding existed. I have experience raiding, and many who I played with are still good. I am certain I could play competitively in at least the 50th percentile in mythic raiding, meaning I could be an average mythic raider. I play with my friend’s guild which is a decent mythic raiding guild. I have seen the skill level of their players. They are good. Some are not so good. I have zero doubt that I could mythic raid and clear content at that level, provided I installed some addons and upgraded my PC.

Just like you have zero doubt you could get KSM.

And again, none of this is about me or you, and all you’ve done is turn this into an ad hominem.

Man, I mained this Mage in 8.3. My LIFE was double on-use.

Well, I don’t personally care about the gear. I get good gear anyways. It’s because I’m watching this slowly kill the game. I agree MOP and 8.2 had decent systems, but 8.2 was also a bit ridiculous because everyone had to farm manapearls for the lottery.

I don’t understand how “raid gear is good” is a serious complaint. It’s always been the best gear available.

There are plenty of paths to decent gear for people who want to put in the effort. Getting 200ilvl in every slot plus a 235 legendary is literally just a matter of playing the game, and getting gear better than that comes with actually doing content. You can get full heroic raid gear by just doing +7 dungeons.

This has been changed by nerfing or trivializing what was always previously casual content. Or turning random PvP into a sandbox where you and your raid team pretend to be “playing with friends” while you farm undergeared players to punish them for being undergeared, while earning that sweet currency. And maybe even getting cash for carries as many carriers do!

I could say the exact same thing to you. And I would be right.

Why is your profile hidden?

I mained mage as well but I could never get font to drop.

I agree with the sentiment, but Horrific Visions don’t.

200 ilvl is not good gear. You will get annihilated in PVP.

Because I don’t like estalkers? You can armory me and check logs if you really care. It also incentivizes not using ad hominem arguments like Snozy the guy without KSM does.

Horrific Visions awarded a single piece of gear that was still inferior to Mythic gear and that for the longest time had Corruption RNG attached to it. The Azerite gear that dropped from it was also utter crap, and few casual players were good enough to actually do 5-masks.

That’s actually a small minority of BGs. Bgs main issues are filled with bots or players that are so bad they are worse than bots.

Actually you would be wrong. I am what is actually considered a casual. You are what’s considered a solo player.

and yet you somehow care about ilvl?

I care about the game not dying.

The more exclusive and toxic they make this game, the more it will go the way of games like quake and starcraft.

and? the game has lasted over 16 years and thrived through many trials. Also, games like these will not last forever
