If there’s a lot of people shut out by not having achievements, it seems like there should be plenty interested in joining groups that don’t have those requirements.
And the people who advocate starting groups are comfortable starting one themselves, thus no need to join yours.
Shadowlands has made the solo player the most close to normal raid gear players ever (197 to 200) and people still complain.
You are incorrect. There are multiple threads that show people asking for equal gear to mythic raiders.
This is an mmo game. This game is designed around group content. You aren’t forced to do any social aspect but by your choice to not then you’re not going to get that same type of gear as people do. Blizzard is never going to reward solo gear that is equal or superior to the lowest form of group content.
People complain not because of the quality of the gear (which is great), but rather by the method the gear is obtained.
Do the words “anima grind” ring any bells?
I don’t mind working for 197s, hey that’s awesome. But eh, how about not taking loads of the same currency I need to work towards other stuff like mounts, pets, transmogs, and covenent upgrades, mmmm?
Apparently you didn’t pay attention in MoP, especially the Timeless Isle, lol. One of my favorite times from WoW. The casual could get decent gear from the previous raid tier by doing heroics, and various activities on the isle, and gradually work towards getting a decent suit of gear, minus weapon (that was the only annoying part).
It was varied enough that it was still fun, and Qing up for Heroics was a decent mix too. You would take those badges, improve your gear, or buy new gear from the previous raid tier.
Sure beats grinding anima up, the same anima they want for all the casual open world content…
False. I’m a casual as I only really have time to play 2 nights a week.
Again false. Neither require you to have a guild (being in guilds help but aren’t required). It just takes effort into using the lfg tool and starting your own groups if needed.
Defining casual by anything but playtime seems super weird to me.
According to the forums, someone who plays like 2-3 hours a week but does M+ or raids within that time is somehow less casual than someone who plays 6 hours a day but never steps foot in M+ or other end-game content.
There’s different reasons one might not want to step into raids and M+.
Toxic communities for one, older age for another, some players might not be able to move and react as good or remember all the mechanics. yadda yadda.
They can play fine in solo PvE, and maybe Heroics, but go higher than that and they start getting complaints and/or can’t pass the content.
But how dare I mention people who aren’t able to perform at the higher skill levels, they’re just trash and non-people, right? Or at least that’s how the general community talks about such people.
Heck, I’m 41 and I’m feeling my reaction times slow down. I used to clear old NES games back when I was in my 20s, that I can barely play today because my reactions and hand-to-eye coordination has decayed some.
Yes, Vanilla was easier and more user friendly(the biggest difference) compared to other MMOs, but current retail is so much easier and has far more quality of life than Vanilla ever did. Start a toon in Classic and try to rambo your way across the open world. You’ll die on the first pull of three. Time how long it takes to form a group for a five man dungeon or 40 man raid. Make sure you bring plenty of food and bandages because there is a lot of time spent eating and drinking in the game. Forget about switching back and forth between specs because that costs lots of gold and gold is very hard to come by. Like flying? Too bad. You’re running until you get high enough level for you ground mount. Be thankful you got that.
The only things classic has on retail is the crafting and rpg flavor of the classes. I’d love to have those back in the game. But the rest you can keep.
Torghast was going to offer gear when it was the next edition of Horrific Visions. But then people screamed about having a timer in Torghast (even though Horrific Visions had them) so Blizzard removed the timer. And the gear.
Sounds like your issue isn’t with the casual level but just that you are unhappy with your life in general. You have one of the most negative outlooks that I’ve ever seen. I don’t know you and I still feel disappointed in you. If you hate shadowlands so much AND you know exactly how your posts sound (like you hate it) then please stop playing. Do yourself and everyone else a favor. To be clear, do is a favor by not grouping with someone who has such a negative view of a game the rest of us find enjoyable.
Which is completely irrelevant in whether you’re a casual or not.
You can say you don’t like to raid or do M+. That’s fine. But that doesn’t inherently make you a casual.
Using the argument that you’re a casual because you don’t raid or because you don’t bother to get good at the game does nothing but perpetuate the myth that casuals are invalids who can’t do anything but the easiest content.
Pro players get paid.
And while someone who plays WoW at an extremely high level might only play the game currently for a couple hours a week, that’s purely because they frontload all the effort.
When 9.1 rolls around, they’re gunna spend a lot more time in the game, whereas an actual casual will probably remain relatively consistent.
