And yet, the fact remains that HVs still awarded gear far above what would normally be considered solo content rewards. Was it the best gear in the game? No. Was it close? Close enough. And 4masking would at least award heroic quality. All I’m saying is that HVs were solo content that awarded loot only 5ilvls below mythic raids. It was also solo content that required that gear to complete
But you can fly while you wait for your sub to finally run out!
Not sure if you’re being serious, but it’s reasonable to have a gearing curve in pve because other people outgearing you doesn’t mean you lose, it means you win faster. Again, I feel for Alliance players (cross faction m+ please), but if anyone on Horde can easily find M+ groups regardless of ilvl and role.
It doesn’t matter that there’s a 227 Fire Mage out there doing 40k dps on a trash pack when you can succeed in a +7 at 185. It’s very much possible to work your way up.
Yeah, that’s certainly fair.
But I think the big concern here is that it really doesn’t reward any progression at the moment. I feel like by mentioning ilvl, the OP detracted from the intention of the post.
I’d never once want the best gear from doing less work. It reduces the value of the the challenge, because rewards matter. Rewards are the biggest attractor in this game, they should always be better the harder things are.
But the structure at the bottom sucks. I think the reward structure all around in Shadowlands sucks.
I mean M+ got a bit better with valor, that should be nice to launch with in 9.1. Raid’s getting “something”. PVP has a good gear climb, even if it’s a mess mechanically.
But it’s absolutely barren at the solo level. Yeah, they give you gear for doing a quick story to get into the group stuff, but that doesn’t feel good for anyone who doesn’t wanna do group stuff exclusively.
Solo play needs to feel rewarding too. It just needs to feel rewarding in a way that doesn’t undermine everything else.
If only there was content that wasn’t timed in wow…
And that’s not to say you can’t socialize in M+. Get on voice and have at it.
Good luck getting into a heroic group with 200 ilvl.
So start your own group? Go do some M+ to get your ilvl up? Join a guild? These are things that you’ve literally always had to do in WoW if you want to raid above a trivial level.
You mean raiding where again u must first prove urself and fill out a zillion job apps before being given the chance to get in or be in a pug environment where you never see those people again?
lmao
have you done any M+? again, nobody is there to make friends…people are there to bang out the dungeon and leave asap
I mean out of the four three are competitive h NF being the best choice.
You just chose the absolute worst one.
Real reason was carbine was using funds from WS, to fund a project that NCsoft didn’t even know about.
We were all shocked about the announcement of the servers shutting down later that year, when they just made the announcement that they were being supported, just a month prior in a newsletter to the community.
All in all, Carbine was a crappy studio that mismanaged the game. I could only think of what it could of been if any other studio had it.
By far still my favorite MMO to date, when Nexusforever Launches, that’s where i’ll be.
The best zone and music in the game by far for me.
Weekly guild raids. Why doesn’t Zenith of Ballerdom raid?
Nothing is competitive with night fae, and venthyr is by far the coolest thematically.
Because zenith of ballerdom is a bank guild made by me like 14 years ago?
Why so many personal questions guys? Why not stick to the argument? You have none?
What small slice of the gaming industry are you focused on; walkers? The majority of top game genres are competitive. They are scrambling to meld in these competitive aspects because gone are the days of “…and in 15 weeks I’ll gain a level” player base. In comparison, I’d argue, WoW retains the “stupid easy” label.
I do agree that it would be nice if Blizzard would design in quest chains of old that gave you a sense of progression in the world that lasted more than a quarter of a patch. Suramar (although I’ll always miss the restaurant) is a great example of this. Or long cosmetic chains. Basically content that is doable over extended time through gear gains w/out entering into end-game content.
What I will never get is needing beyond the gear level that Blizzard maps out for non-end-game content players. In Cata I didn’t even enter a dungeon until the end of the expac and I had progression and was fine. I have a DK that hasn’t even completed her Covenant (thanks herbalism structure) and the gear level was good enough even though I don’t really know how to play her. (but I really should finish the covenant)
It all seems to boil down to: “I settled on a FORD because it fits my lifestyle, but I’m really upset when I see a BMW blow past me and weave through traffic and get to where we’re going faster. FORD needs to fix this.”
That’s what these arguments always seem to leave out - what classes are unable to achieve a goal that is not end-game content related with the gear allowance that the Devs have charted? The only attempt at this seems to be: “well, yes, it can be done but it takes too long for me”.
I’ve played both ways, and I wish that rather than try to disrupt or tear down other play-style’s content of choice, there would be more of a focus on what sort of content to add or real examples on how the gearing budget is insufficient. Because I believe, that in the rush to attract this “new blood” or as they call it the “cyclical gamer”, they’ve really left the genre’s core demographic behind.
Why wont you join a real guild?
Necrolord is the second best option and Kyrian is good for mythic plus but puts a lot of strain on an already tougher rotation
Necrolord also may be bis for aff next tier however losing soulshape is def a hit.
A person may like a social event, but may not want to be in charge of the event. So just saying this game isn’t for you is a terrible argument from someone who does not understand nuances or reality.
Nope. Everyone is playing Minecraft, LOL, Fortnite, and having a good time. Many casuals left WoW.
No new blood = dead game. That’s just math. That’s how it works. There is a decay rate. There needs to be an influx of new people or the game will die.
You can raid, which certainly doesn’t require all that, you can do bgs, you can quest, you can RP on goldshire, you can mog farm, etc. Almost all of wow is extremely socialization friendly. If you’re choosing to only play with pugs, that’s on you.
Make friends first, then do m+ with them. Easy.
We’ll see what they do with covenants next patch. Anything can change at the last minute. Prior to SL release, everyone expected Kyrian to be the best, and then they nerfed it at the last minute.
I’ve still got a partially upgraded venthyr sanctum, and I hope to switch back over at some point toward the end of xpac for the mogs.
