In their defense, I think the leveling revamp was great. They really set the game up to be appealing to newer players and those that enjoy a good leveling pace.
That likely took a lot of their resources. However, that was our one “casual/solo player” investment for the next few years I assume. It really doesn’t feel like casual systems are their priority, and that’s a shame, because I have to leave WoW and my raid team to play something entirely different, just to find decent casual content that might appeal to me.
I think there’s likely too many restrictions on what the art team can work on, and I wager the business side of this company is killing the creative side of it, as we often see with large gaming companies. Blizzard doesn’t feel like it’s gamer-passion-driven anymore, it feels like it’s driven by accountants and lawyers.
I hope that changes. I feel bad for the devs and the other creators, because they’re likely working their butts off trying to deliver what the money-hoarders allow them to.
I think 9.1 sounds like a big patch, but it sounds like it was only designed for a certain demographic in mind, and I am no longer part of it. I don’t know what changed, if it was me going more casual or them focusing primarily on group systems, but it’s a little sad.
The only thing I can compare it to is when you have a really good job, then the company gets sold and suddenly all you have left that’s enjoyable are the people you work with.
I’m not sure if this is trolling at this point or intentional ignorance. But for the love of god, multiplayer does not mean groups. It means it’s designed for multiple players. That is literally all it is.
Roblox is a friggen multiplayer game. Any game that supports multiple players is multiplayer. That’s it.
I can play nearly every multiplayer game by myself if I choose to. MMOs are no different.
Now, I’m not saying “hey, make everything soloable” I’m just saying, give me something fun and constructive to do during the times I am playing solo. Because I seriously doubt that even those of you who pop up in here going “iTs MuLtIpLaYeR” spend every moment in the game in a group.
Yeah apart from leveling and world quests (which is faster and more fun in groups) literally everything I do in this game (pvp/raids/dungeons/torghast) is done in a group. “Something constructive” implies character development I.e. power or gearing, which is always relegated to group play. If you want to farm mog/achievements/mounts/titles thats mostly soloable, and with 15 years of content to potentially farm there doesn’t really need to be much new stuff each patch to keep people busy.
Except I’ve been playing this for 15 years. All of that “15 years of content to potentially farm” has been farmed. The only thing I’m waiting for is Legion content to open up to me.
But every expansion they rely heavily on going back and finishing up older content or leveling alts. Every expansion that has diminishing returns.
We need better solo content in the game, and it doesn’t have to come at the expense of anything else you enjoy. This company makes more than enough money to provide a little bit of something for everyone.
A new raid? Won’t get to fully see it until its all in lfr so its pointless.
A new mega dungeon? Mythic only, so unless it eventually gets added to the lfd ill never get to see it.
A new section of the maw? I already despise the maw as it is and spend as little time there as I can stomach. So again pointless.
No new epic bgs for the random queue. Stuck with the same 4 tired old boring ones where one is practically broken and an instant loss if you’re offense and the other rhymes with trash.
Still no fix to the broken scaling of legion raids.
So I haven’t set foot in any shadowlands zones for weeks apart from spending honor to upgrade gear and then immediately garrison hearth out and from the looks of this patch I won’t be setting foot in shadowlands again any time soon.
You mean like Playing WoW which was designed for solo play with a SOME group play (see comment above about verbiage promising solo play) and expecting to play EQ the MMORPG that forced group play for 90% of the game?
There is a reason we came to WoW from EQ. We wanted Hello Kitty MMORPG that let us solo. If we wanted forced grouping EQ would have been the #1 MMORPG since 2004
i can’t help it everytime i get friends to do stuff with they unsub cause crappy decisions/choices from blizz. from the loot fiasco to pvp being kinda messed up to many other things my friends list just dwindled away. so ya more focus on solo stuff would be awesome considering they can’t seem to keep people subbed long enough nowadays.
Lol the absolute fantasy world you’re living in. Devs constantly talked about how WoW was a group experience early on. It was quite literally designed to require cooperation. But if making things up and pretending they’re real helps you in life then you do you baby
Have you ever played a game that REQUIRED grouping for things like leveling?
The original devs came from EQ and specifically said they wanted it to less extreme and punishing and again as stated above, an MMORPG with a selling point of being able to play solo was huge. It was a major selling point for Vanilla WoW. I know, I lived it. It’s why I left a bunch of RL friends and guild to play here instead of EQ2. I wanted solo play
You may post the extensive list of content designed for players who do not wish to group in vanilla if you wish. I will then respond with a list of content virtually unavailable to total solo play… just for kicks.
