If we buy the expansion per year and the sub, is that not enough? When is it enough?
If you pay subs monthly it’s $14.99. If you do the 6 month with the transmog right now, it’s $77.94 which is $12.99 a month. That’s a nice savings plus a free transmog. Unless you aren’t planning to continue playing for the next 6 months, it’s a great deal.
I’m ok with this since it seems like they’re starting to actually think like FFXIV and have tier rewards for long term subs.
What I’am afraid of is that unlike FFXIV, Blizzard doesn’t know when to really stop. So I hope they’re not using this as a testing ground for crap down the line that will really bite.
That is kind of what I originally thought when they started this. I treated this like how FF14 had the veteran system where if you had a subscription set up and you just let it charge, you got rewards for it.
I agree tier rewards are fun.
But WoW actually has the least ridiculous cash shop out there. I know, that realization was crazy to me too, no joke.
ESO, most things end up in the shop because of the optional fee. Yes, if you pay for a sub you can get things in the shop for no more than your sub cost but it still means there aren’t very many rewards to get by playing.
And FFXIV’s cash shop is just getting silly. 20$ transmogs that are useable by ONLY ONE CHARACTER on your account silly.
Yeah and the rewards are damn neat. I do not know if they’re obtainable in game or not though. I’m super casual in the game and some aspects of it I never pay attention to it.
Im worried that we wont get the same quality of items through playing the game as if we were to buy it I men look at this
Pay for sub > Pay for xpac > Paying for items made with the money you already spent on your sub / xpac. It’s a constant cycle. Instead of membership rewards it would be monthly rewards / log in bonuses. to keep the player active.

Ooof, I do give them credit though for being very subtle with the shop. I hardly hear complaints about it in game from FFXIV players.
As long as it remains cosmetic there is no enough. They’re a business, as a business they are allowed to make money. That’s kind of their purpose and has always been their purpose.
If you’re upset about it either don’t buy anything from the store or go else where. though good luck finding a for profit business that doesn’t try selling extras for services

It would be better but monthly rewards I highly doubt will happen. Will probably take too much work unless they keep it very simple.
Though if done right it could prove to be more addicting in keep people guessing what “rewards” they will get this month.

I play and if I recall. None of those subscription veteran rewards were able to be obtained in game at all. It was exclusive to those who subbed back then.
If you are subbed in a current 6 mo plan, yes you get current reward
It’s what I thought but wasn’t sure so thanks for clarifying it. I’m kind of tempted to resub again for six months instead of monthly for them, they were fun and Shadowbringers was top notch expansion.
I do try not to go dive deep in exclusivity in FFXIV though because it gets too be a lot very fast.
Blizzard is no where near the other games that sell xmogs. And you can choose to ignore them with World of Warcraft since it literally has no impact at all on the world instead of make a post about hating every mount they put in the store.
In FFXIV you also can pay to skip the story, and pay to boost your character, one job at a time.
No where near but becoming a glaring issue.
Also, we pay for a sub and expacs. why are we paying for these cosmetics? Add it to the game NOT THE SHOP

you can ignore them, but people are mostly upset that they just don’t make this obtainable in game from doing quest or maybe a secret thing. Chances are, they are going to do it again. I agree that I would love to have the ability to obtain stuff like this in game, but I do also agree that they do have to make money sometimes. Yeah they have all those other mounts and pets they can buy, but how much do you really think they make from those 1-2 years after being put on the shop? They have to find more ways to keep the money rolling besides subscriptions.
