Yeah I don’t see how anyone is excited :. I kinda wish we could just play the game instead of do chores, it’s hard to get anyone to come back with essences.
Uhm, yeah, minus the one glaring exception of essences, 8.3 is probably the least grindy patch we’ve had this whole expansion. I mean, for crying out loud, they’re giving us 6 freaking levels of Artifact Knowledge on day one, which means your neck should be 75 by early Feb if you’re just casually collecting AP, doing your daily emissary and that’s it. The assaults on Uldum and the Vale are only 3 for the entire week (one major and two minors), which combined will give you enough coalescing visions to do a couple of Horrific Visions for cloak upgrades, which will mostly consist of you making a beeline for the main boss of the vision the first few times. So once you’re done with those, you can do whatever you want with the rest of your game time. Everything else you do after that is basically optional. You don’t need to grind rep to exhaustion, you don’t need to be chasing after corrupted gear anymore than you needed to chase after titanforges, and you don’t need to min-max your horrific visions or anything else. The only people that have these things as a requirement (and even then it’s not a hard and fast requirement in all but the most fringe cases) are mythic raiders.
Too many losers took off and expect to be on par to people who played and payed for the game in the last months. Be glad there is any catch up mechanism at all.
A sense of worth defined by a video game. Your ancestors must be very proud of you.
That’s a nice checklist of BS Blizz is making us do instead of actually fun stuff. This right here is exactly the issue. A job is where you’re required to do certain things that you don’t want to do. That checklist is the same thing which is why people refer to the game sometimes as a job.
I’m more than happy to do self imposed grinds (have you seen my Loremaster title?). Not stupid mini games Blizz tells me are required.
I have no doubt they are failures outside of video games as well.
Yea… then you will have less of a pool to recruit from.
I’m sorry, but “I did this” doesn’t actually mean “most everyone else did this too”.
Then don’t come back.
Then don’t. If I felt about it the way you do, I just wouldn’t be playing. Why do you bother if you dislike it so much?
There’s plenty I do like but Blizz needs feedback or the game would continue to turn to crap. I give feedback only because I care. Those who spend time writing these threads only do so because they care enough to help make the game better.
Well… I’ve actually done ptr testing, and I honestly think visions and assaults are kind of fun. They’re different enough from the crap we’ve been doing so far in BFA and they don’t feel nearly as grindy, so that’s my feedback.
Have you actually tried these things for yourself? Or are you just basing your opinions on what you saw in a video a couple months ago that isn’t up to date anymore?
Ok, if you did BfA, but quit without getting Pathfinder, yes you’ll be grinding. You’ll grind the same way I have to grind Pathfinder for all the expacs I missed when I was off.
However…if you have Pathfinder, your alt has Pathfinder. You likely have a bunch of mana pearls saved up for Benthic gear.
Getting to 120 is not difficult. 8.3 is also going to make some essences easier to get, and increase the starting level of the AP necklace.
My Horde alt is going to be ready enough when she gets there. Maybe not for high-level raiding, but that shouldn’t happen anyway - there should need to be some actual playing that happens.
I hear you, but coming back in the final installment is not advised nor wise. You also left out Pathfinder rep grinds.
This is what it’s all about.
Caught up in no time just taking my time, no need to rush.
I’m seeing this a lot and I don’t understand why. Gearing should be enough. Gearing is playing the game. You get gear from pvp/raiding/m+ which is the content that people want to do.
Why should we have to do boring world content / islands in order to push ourselves and stay ahead? Why can’t we just grind what we want to?
Lol, I took that straight from BDO. At least I didn’t say you need other pieces of that same item to upgrade, lol. Oops.
The time gating part gets me. The essence time gating is the worst.
I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. There is not only AP grind as this patch introduces three grinds.
Of the stuff you mentioned, the only real pain will be unlocking the Essences. Blizz made some of them easier to unlock in 8.3, but they are still a pain, especially if you plan on playing alts.
If you actually cared about high-end content, you had to grind Sons of Hodir rep for those enchants. It’s as bad (if not more) than what we have now.
