82% Damage Difference from the bookends of PVP

It’s funny because last expansion scaling was getting crucified and people were praising the notion of PvP gear progression because that is what MMORPGs should be about since they aren’t shooters or mobas.

There was none, considering BiS for basically every spec was M+ gear or raid trinkets. So who was talking about PvP gear progression exactly? Scaling did get ripped on but mostly because they wouldn’t tell anyone how it worked and it was broken, like putting a gem in your gear making you weaker for the majority of the expansion.

I’m pretty sure the weapons were better all throughout mop and better enchants were available that were gated behind the rating. Prideful was for mop. In legion the gear rolled higher with arena rating, You got titan forged.

There has always been elite gear in the game.

I just came back after 4 years. I was fully honor geared in 3 days and half way to 1400 rbg rating for 229 gear. 3 pieces of conqueror, including two hander weapon. I believe getting pvp geared has never been easier. Getting into rbg group can be a slight pain, but getting your conqueror gear to 229 (242 pvp) is not hard at all. After that, experience and hard work. Unless you have a crew of Angels with you.

Again, you are wrong. Elite weapons went away after s12 in MoP. The next 6 seasons had no gear locked behind rating. Elite sets and the enchants you are misremembering about were both just cosmetic upgrades. The enchants were literally jade spirit and dancing steel with a different appearance. The elite gear didn’t even have stats, it was just for transmog, including weapons. They did add better gear for rating in Legion, but nobody here is talking about Legions gearing system, only templates and WoD gearing.

Seriously dude, do just a little research before you make posts like this because you have been wrong about basically everything.

Perhaps I am misremembering. It’s been awhile and I will concede when I am wrong. However my point still stands that everyone should start in the same gear. Gear shouldn’t matter in PvP only skill.

People should climb ladders but based on ability not stomping an opponent with 30k less hp than you have.

This is exactly right. And inversely you shouldn’t wonder “Did I win or did the gear?” Real PVPers want to see who the best is, even if it’s not them. People asking for gear, I don’t know what they are but it’s not a PVPer.

I am all in for templates. or at least, if you are on rating, add a vendor when you enter the bg/arena, give a few minutes, and buy the best gear that has a duration of the match.

IDK just giving ideas.

They could still give top rated players gear, just have the actual pvp be scaled at least in some game modes. Like if you are a top arena player you should still get good gear, but like it shouldn’t mean you get to stomp on everyone in pvp casual instances? They should just plainly have scaled pvp modes, since those geared players already play competitive mode. It just leaves casuals in a weird place where if they choose not to do arenas, or any rated activities they are just a detriment to the team, are cannon fodder, and can barely get anything done unless they face people who are like them. There are already many pvp queues, just adding a scaled mode where anyone has a fair chance would increase participation. The other modes could have those masochists or people who are willinging to do the other game content.

I never minded that rated players had some advantage, especially speed of gearing. I don’t ding 60 and jump into mythic raids but I face mythic geared players if I do even entry level PvP content.

Though I don’t completely agree with everyone having the same gear, I would amend that to be equal gear. I like to play around with trinkets, and different stat builds, and I’d hate to lose that. The PvP lobby in GW2 is great in that regard. Everyone gets to choose from different sets, with equal amounts of stats, and any rune/glyph they want. Some of the stuff needs to be bought from the lobby, but it’s available to anyone with minimal gold, and they are unlocked forever after that.

Didn’t Preach openly declare he left the game ?

what a surprise, terrible PVPers complaining about PVP and blaming gear instead of looking in the mirror and blaming themselves cuz they suck at the game they play 12 hours a day.

I do hope you realize achievements are viewable on alts, honor level 18.

PVP honor gear is starter gear. It should have never been turned into a months long grind.

For reference, WotLk, Cata, MoP, and WoD the honor gear took roughly one week to fully farm just doing PVP.

Current honor gear because of doubled honor requirements and time gating has been stretched over a 2 month period.

1 week vs 2 months just for starter gear?

That is a big mistake. A big fatal flaw that I pointed out in the sytemlands beta!

He did. Why do you ask?

It’s really quite obnoxious how you twist things you know? Scaling in BFA was ripped on because it was explained really poorly with a cartoon drawing and actually didn’t work if you watched any of Rex’s stuff (ie gems working in reverse).

Add on to that fact is we had actual good scaling that we asked for and instead they gave us that garbage.

Double the irony is that they know we’ve been asking for wod scaling since it went away. So they go ahead and implement “wod like” scaling except it comes with all the bad parts of it and none of the good parts simply to address pver concerns.

Actual wod scaling and gearing is what pvpers have been asking for since legion. It’s why they pretended to give it to us.

Templates bricked entire specs for PvP, so they should do literally anything else to bridge the gap.
