I hope they really do leave the swimmers alone though. It isn’t like you can use the swimmers above land.
Sea Turtles walk on land too. It should get the mount equip imo.
Doesn’t work that way.
The sea turtle has a 60% speed buff whilst swimming, and when on dry land, it basically slows to a speed of what a standard ground mount would achieve in water.
If they removed its swimming speed buff and equalize its ground mount speed, then you’d have your wish.
I like win/win solutions to problems and/or conflict. Everyone wins, everyone’s happy.
If they leave the striders alone, and exempt them from mount equipment, the way we’ve been asking for all along, it’s a win/win. No one gets hurt, no one loses anything.
But Blizzard, and many players, seem inextricably attached to a win/lose proposition: Everyone gets mount equipment, and all us poor suckers who did the work to earn the striders lose out.
GG, everyone.
To all the “adapt or move on people,” I will probably move on. The strider change, in and of itself is not a HUGE issue, but it’s piled on top of scores of others. And I’m weary of supporting a game company that treats its players this way. It’s sad, really. I’ve supported this game since 2004, and I think it’s time for me to finally bow out.
Well I do hope they add more mount equip slots and one of them being swim speed.
But yeah, sounds like the turtle stays in deep freeze for now.
I would love for there to be a win/win situation as well, but there are those who think a win/lose situation will make everyone happy.
Not me. I’m done. Many straws too many for this camel.
I’m already unsubbed, just waiting for my remaining time to expire.
And I’m far from alone… I hung in there longer than almost everyone I play with or socialize with in wow.
The people that knew how to guide WoW into the future have clearly abandoned their posts. Now we get reactionary hacks like this, bad story, shallow content, and ill-conceived grinding systems with no heart or heat.
And I can’t yet make myself look away from this slow motion trainwreck in progress.
Aw too bad, was it honestly the mount equipment thing, for real? So many other things are real issues imo. But hey if its the 2013 mount, then maybe it was destiny anyway.
Beguiling has the potential to make me leave. But I will give it a shot first, see how M+10 goes. If it sucks though, that is literally the thing keeping me in the game. M+ has to be their focus, its the best the game has to offer, if they can’t maintain that it’s time to move on.
I would love the idea if blizzard would exempt the water strider of mount equipment yet they haven’t said anything at all to change their mind. Now,I don’t have any trust in the company.
Maybe, maybe not. I’m not sure anymore.
A number of things made me completely lose faith in Blizzard’s ability do what’s good for the game instead of what’s good for lining their exec’s bank accounts.
This was part of that. They’ve stopped innovating, it’s just hacky kludges now. And next up is the ridiculous level squish… yaaaay. So much will break and for what? More BOOST SALES! WOO HOO!
Seriously. The future for WoW is bleak if they don’t get Ion or whomever is calling the shots out of there.
You weren’t surprised this entire time. You are only reacting now because this issue became an issue after Blizzard made it one.

Yeah, me too. Can you imagine the uproar, though, if a Blizzard employee came to this thread and announced they were going to revert the planned water strider nerf?
We’d have hundreds of angry players piling on here, complaining that Blizzard caved, and that they were cheated, and that they were so looking forward to seeing us strider owners lose…
It’s nuts.
Daz cool, I have taken big breaks when I got disgruntled too (I skipped Legion until 7.2.5; I took 4 years off after BC). If it’s not fun, its time to move on!
I hope not to, but its possible I will exit for a bit after 8.2 drops if its as bad as I think it is.
Then Blizzards in a catch 22 ,if you revert it they’ll get it on one side ,then if they kept it the other side loses what they earned .To tell you the truth they should’ve never messed with it in the first place.
To tell you the truth they should’ve never messed with it in the first place.
Word. 10char
To tell you the truth they should’ve never messed with it in the first place.
True for more and more things in wow than ever. With no sizzle to make up for it.
To tell you the truth they should’ve never messed with it in the first place.
Amen to that. But then, if Blizzard was thinking people were using the Water Strider most of all, why implement a stupid system? Why not add more Water Walking mounts?
Everyone was using the mounts as what they were to put in game for.
And this is the only one they made ,why couldn’t they made another verity? I guess the creativity went else where ,or they were too close to see it was needed.
I agree. But they seem to more focus on Classic at the moment than trying to make retail better.
Either that or they just care more about the money than the product.
I wish they would just be honest and put a “Disclaimer this item is subject to change in the next expac” tag on the stuff they planned on changing.
I think that tag would help build some trust. But then again if they actually did that people would see the dirty underbelly of this Mount Equipment deal.
