You shouldn’t dismiss opinions that differ from your’s by saying it has to be due to burnout. Maybe they just don’t enjoy what you enjoy.
As for grinding: There are well designed grinds and poorly designed grinds and BfA has a ton of poorly designed grinds. As a player who has played every expac ever, I can tell you that all grinds are not created equal.
I don’t think you know what the word offended means.
And no, it still means we as in talking for a unspecified group, ergo thinking it is better people start talking about their own experiences/feelings on a subject and not automatically feel the need to speak for the people, whatever group you think OP was including.
Think more people would take their opinions seriously that way.
But please, try to enlighten me how to read like a normal person, because you obviously made a great example of how to.
Naz is a tiny area with nothing new or interesting in it. All it has to offer are a few boring dailies and WQ on a small map that is a pain in the butt to navigate through dense packs of respawns.
They might as well have made the dailies reward Apexis crystals. In fact that is precisely what they did. Now all we need is a new Ashran and we’ll have all the worst parts of WoD back.
Mechagon is bad because the end goals of quests is obscured. The herbs and ore are old (so you are “punished” for staying in the zone as a gatherer). The gear doesn’t even seem to be competitive when you do get it (the trinket is lacking primary stat), the trinkets which take a LOT of work to get are less ilevel than what I can craft. The rares are hidden behind odd quests things. The actual quests have 0 challenge to them (Naz is more “dangerous”). I have no idea what to do with my 1500 spare parts… ETC. I went to the zone with a group of 5 for the pvp quest, found 0 alliance - we ALL got bored with the zone in 15 minutes. AND we are REQUIRED to grind the zone for rep, even if we don’t like it - just to fly in the good zone (Naz). And the storyline about Mechagon is random, unrelated to the overall patch theme, and stupid. The opening quest where we kill off a ton of underlings and -really don’t care- is also pretty uncomfortable. Basically Mechagon is the worst of WoW.
The zone is bad.
On the other hand, and as if designed by a better team, Nazjatar is GREAT. Benthic armor rocks - finally we aren’t subject to pure RNG. Etc. Crafting is back, new mats, new items, stuff is selling. I am working no less than 6 toons in Naz now and having a lot of fun. I will probably happily do over a dozen toons in Naz, it’s just that good.
Maybe this reply clarified it for you? If not, try to be a bit more specific about what you need to know. It is possible you replied to me instead of the OP by accident, that would make more sense.
Telling you that you sound burnt out isn’t an “excuse”, nor am I trying to “justify” anything. You do sound burnt out and generally angry about everything.
I hadn’t paid attention since the overall theme with most youtubers and streamers is generally negative no matter what. But I took some time to look and found that, other than Asmondidiot’s hour long rant about the new store mount, most of them that I watched (including his) review of the patch were generally positive. There is always something to gripe about, and they did gripe, but the general impression from the few I watched was positive.
And, in case you were unaware I’ll let you in on a little known secret… SHHH…Don’t tell anyone! …
Players tend to flock the forums to talk about what they don’t like but generally say nothing about what they do like. So seeing mostly negative posts here is par for the course.
I am enjoying it. I know a lot of people who are also enjoying it. I see people in game saying generally good things about the new content. Success or not, there are people that don’t agree with you. And it’s okay. it doesn’t negate your impressions of the content even one little bit. We just have a different opinion. And we’re not even mad at you! (And by “we”, I really mean “me”.)
It just feels like every single aspect of the new content is designed to draw things out as long as possible. Huge numbers of dailies and WQs that give very little rep. Atrocious droprates, difficult-to-find items and huge numbers of mobs required for kill quests. Mob density is incredibly high and half the enemies have abilities designed to stop you from being able to AoE them down.
8.2 needed to reinvigorate BFA, but it’s the most tedious content we’ve gotten yet.
My issue with 8.2 is it’s really not what I was led to believe by most streamers/ptr players. With Mechagon, I was expecting a sandbox where I could enjoy and play as I wanted. Well, things are gated behind what’s available that day, and the “play” is just kill the same mobs for parts. I don’t feel invested in the zone. My first day I had a blast zooming around in my jetpack seeing what the zone had to offer, but now I see that it was not at all representative of what I should expect every day.
Nazjatar on the other hand feels like it was designed to be as frustrating as possible. Maybe if Blizzard patched out the glaring bugs in the game, like phasing issues and whatnot it might be better. But still, it feels like I’m just aimlessly wandering, waiting for something interesting to happen.
Yesterday I ended my session prematurely because of how enraged I was. I found a rare mob, and killed it. It dropped a “Blind Eye” item. Apparently this item is cursed, and I’m supposed to find who I can sell it to. No indication where this person is. In addition, the item randomly gives you 3 minute debuffs as you hold it.
I’m sorry, but no. The zone is already frustrating enough. I deleted the item and called my session done for the day. When I kill a rare mob, I want to find a reward, not a damn debuff. That isn’t fun, that isn’t engaging. That’s annoying. If looting the item started a QUEST where it specifically told me the location of this random npc hiding in one of the many caves, maybe I would have felt better about it. But I’m not going to cheer at the prospect of my “reward” being stacking debuffs as I try to figure out where the hell to take the thing.
I really…REALLY hate this zone. I’m honestly very disappointed in this patch. This was supposed to be Blizzard showing us they were listening, and instead all I got was more headaches and timegates.
I personally enjoy playing my class (druid), but have lost nearly all interest in WoW after a few days of 8.2. All of the new content feels like chores i have to do every day. The opening quest lines were fun, but very short.
Now im logging in every day to:
grind daily/world quests
(search all over Najzatar for seaweed and fish to kick)
grinding MORE reputations, MORE artifact power.
wander ainlessly around Mechagon looking for chests to open so i can grind rep with a faction i dont feel attached to so that i can eventually fly.
I seriously just went on steam and bought a new game to play and it feels like I’m skipping out on chores to play a video game.
Mechagon’s fun because it does it right, but Nazjatar is horrid. Rare spawns and quest objectives that are way too rare is not fun. It wasn’t fun in Northrend, and it still isn’t fun today. 25/50 rep for 2 hour quests? No thanks.
It’s crazy because going into 8.2 I thought that I would detest Mechagon and love Nazjatar, it was completely opposite what I was expecting.
Honestly, I gotta say, give a try to other MMO’s, you might be burnt out, this expansion tends to do that quite easily. I’ve been playing ESO recently, and damn, even leveling the world feels more alive than WoW has felt in years.
I just hope to be able to give enough of a break to be able to enjoy WoW again once I come back.
honestly don’t know why people keep using the burn out excuse…
I could literally take a year break from wow and if I came back to nazjatar and 8.2 i would still hate it… its not burnout… it’s crap content.
I don’ even wanna work on any of my alts right now because getting the dumb rep to exalted for both factions and grinding the AP to reach a neck level of 55… is really excruciatingly boring, dull, repetitive and just crap content.
