8.1 Looks Optimistic! Another Reason for Downvotes?

I have discussed the possibility of coming back in 8.1 with a few friends, asking what they thought of it. Many thought it was a step in the right direction, but not enough was done to correct the main issues; secondary power grinds at max and gearing. (azerite for other specs and not just trinkets/rings/weapons)

The dislike ratio came up, and one chirped up saying, disliked it because Lore (Josh Allen) narrated it. Few others didn’t believe it was him at first, but when they did, they went back to dislike it, calling him what he called us.

I don’t think there is any coming back for him, he’s burned that bridge in a very anti-consumer way. While I don’t think that’s the main reason for the dislike ratio, I just watched 6/6 people dislike it because of him, regardless of what they thought of the patch.

Did his narration of the video have any impact on your vote?

Do you think he has a chance to redeem himself, or will this loom over his entire career at Blizzard?

TL:DR

Do you think having Lore(Josh Allen) narrate the survival guide had any impact on the like/dislike ratio considering his recent bashing of players on twitter?

(Yes I am aware there is an 8.1 video thread, but I believe this is an entirely different conversation)

your tldr question. specifically " Do you think having Lore(Josh Allen) narrate the survival guide had any impact on the like/dislike ratio considering his recent bashing of players on twitter? the question itself is inflammatory and non-constructive.

I think it’s very constructive, specifically consider recent events and how the playerbase views Blizzard and it’s disconnect from the playerbase. Dose having employees who publicly bash the playerbase take part in marketing diminish the actual message? Just look at the last Q&A and spend 5min watching the comments. Just look at Diablo Immortals and “Do you guys not have phones?”

I found the narration to be a bit… Weird. Perhaps uncharacteristic of the content or lacking a familiar enthusiasm. Like watching a League of Legends champion spotlight but if Phreak just woke up and was reading from a pamphlet.

Content looks neat, kind of looking forward to more of the Forsaken side of the story (Warfront armor that looks good for forsaken? Aww yeh). The survival guide doesn’t do any favors for building hype though.

Nothing too special from my perspective, Although I am looking forward to New World Quests and i’m sure they will be increased item level too

Edit: And also can’t wait to do/finish the Night Warrior quest-line. Finally I’ll be able to get black hair!

All of these improvements and new systems are fine. I feel like the classes still play horribly. If you lack the gameplay to fit the game systems what does that leave you?

The proper format is in a monotone voice, “it’s more of the same but hang on until next year where we give you some more of it.”

I don’t think it’s a step in the right direction, not at all!

The down votes are because 8.1 lacks meaningful content to many of us.

if you aren’t happy with current wow, 8.1 will not change your mind.

I think the problem with the dungeons is like everything in WOW right now, all content is disconnected from all other content.
so there’s no connection between archaeology, island expeditions, gathering, dungeons, raids… and they should all be linked in MANY ways to encourage people to do the content.

I am sick of the 10 dungeons and the raid.

I think Island Expeditions have a lot of potential, but only if they tied them into other content, same as archaeology and gathering and all professions in general.
I love my rogue, but I feel like the game is truly lacking in interesting content at the moment.

Exactly!

Nothing feels like it has a purpose or connection to the story itself. Not even world quests.

Then again, the story itself has been a hot steaming pile of…

I don’t see anything in 8.1 that brings back the purpose.

I could care less who narrated a video I’m not going to watch, nor do I care about the drama of what some blizz employee said to a bunch folks who were harassing him on his personal accounts.

As for 8.1, I think the content looks good. If they could fix the classes I enjoy playing to actually be fun I might stick around for more than a week of it…

At least the raid will be connected to the story for everyone, much unlike Uldir, which feels like a filler raid.

They can hire Morgan Freeman to narrate 8.1 and it’ll still be :poop:

You either get to playing or get to dbagging

No, the people who care about youtube likes/dislikes exist solely on rage and mob mentality right now.

Please, do not take this to mean I think everyone who has criticisms about BfA are just angry sheep. Just… the type of people who think they’re owning Blizz for downvoting a video lol

So far, only 3 people actually read the OP. :frowning:

I read it.

I simply don’t care if Lore narrated something or not. It’s not impacting anyone’s life,at all, anywhere.

STOP. WHINING.

How about posting on the video about the patch, not about this topic then. Here, I can even link it for you.

and that bold caps just proved it impacted yours.

again, the link is a good read
