This is a pro 79 twink thread with some info on the bracket for those who might be curious.
If you, (like me an others) are not interested in the never ending gear treadmill , but mostly just play for the pvp mechanics, there is an NPC for each faction that will turn off your XP gain for a few gold pieces , and “yes” you still will be put in the same BG queues as people who gain experience.
Right now the bracket is very active for obvious reasons. On Alliance, queues during primetime are usually between 1 - 5 minutes. During off hours like 5am, or super late at night, i notice queues can be anywhere from 5 - 17mins (longest ive seen). I have no idea how long Horde queues are, but i assume they are a touch longer . I think ive played around 50 games and i would say only about 5 of those matches were same faction games.
At present there are not a ton of fully twinked 79’s running around, i maybe see about 3 or 4 per game if that. Obviously most of them are Horde side, but i have seen a few on Alliance now and then.
Gearing i think is fairly unique compared to previous expansions in that its MUCH MUCH easier to gear and be competitive because of the the level 78 blue PVP sets, and because the Brutal vendor gear is still totally usable even at 79. You dont need to dungeon grind for eleventy billion hours trying to get that 1 rare blue item that will boost your power levels to the moon. But there are still dungeon pieces you can chase if you want a full glass cannon build.
Class balance so far “seems” to be ok, and each class and spec offers so much more than in previous xpacs(imo). Death knights are obviously bonkers and a good one needs to be immediatly focused down or it will shrek your teamates . Rogues can still do their obnoxious rogue stuff, but dont feel quite as busted anymore because of resilience stacking. Warriors can actually survive and pull off some tricks that make them more interesting to play etc etc…
Anyways, if you are thinking of doing it, or even stopping in the bracket for a few months to farm honor before level 80, now is the time to do it. I noticed in TBC that after about a year , the 69 bracket was basically dead.
Good luck!
