Mythic raiders found a way to farm residuum with split raids and this did not break the game. Why not let the rest of us join the fun by having residuum drop off bosses?
It would be nice to be able to earn the gear I want rather then have it be some random chance, I don’t even consider the specific pieces obtainable at the current prices.

@Bornakk, I do at least a 8+ key every week, our raid team is 7/9 and i dont have close to what i need for a specific piece. by the time i get enough, i will be doing 8.2 content if not 8.3 and at that time it will have increased again. its a great idea, but the cost is way to high for it

Residuum is nice, but the targeted cost is so ludicrously high those pieces might as well not exist. Light at the end of the tunnel? LOL, that’s a two month long tunnel for any kind of normal person my friend. Which after you’ve already been playing for like 3 months getting random pieces?
No, the cost is far too high.
EDIT: Some additional feedback on Residuum
- It should drop from emissaries and raid bosses, just like the legendary currency did
- This whole scrapping thing is ridiculous and is a toxic atmosphere. SORRY BRO CAN’T TRADE, NEED RESIDUUM.

The problem is that traits are not equal. Let’s not even get into how the 30s shield is by far the most powerful inner trait for pretty much every character in the game. For the longest time, resto druids had like one usable primary trait outside of Uldir. The extra ring and abundance of traits on the outer ring mitigate this somewhat, but buying a random 415 still has a decent chance of getting you solid meh that you have to hope your other two pieces can fit around, and a good chance of getting you complete unusable crap like Dawning Sun thus completely wasting almost a month of residuum.
Also doesn’t help that traits can get nerfed overnight, leaving you hosed if you haven’t been banking literally everything purple because the differences are stark enough to override ilvl (not often by the +30 margins that were common before but +15 is still common). This happened to boomkin twice. You could save up all 7000 then buy a piece that gets nerfed into irrelevance the next day, wasting your entire residuum stockpile since the system was implemented.
It’s one thing to have targetable, farmable pieces drop randomly. It’s quite another to have no way at all to know what you’re getting, among a table so large, and containing so much garbage, and is in far more flux than anything should be when the time to get it is measured in months.

For people that don’t raid Mythic I’m sure it is.
Give me a few years and I might have enough to use it.

Terribly. The system encourages players to be jerks and never trade off Azerite in raids. It punishes organized guilds because they need to trade the loot instead of letting people get their BiS, and the system doesn’t have enough options to obtain Azerite to scrap for the currency. Literally the only way to get Azerite worth anything is to bonus roll Azerite or get lucky with the Warfront, otherwise most guilds are still trading Azerite around. It punishes players who want to have offspec gear and it punishes players who are unlucky. I would be fine if Azerite was more available to scrap, but it isn’t, which makes the Residuum gear exceptionally overpriced for no reason other than forcing players to stay subbed longer.

I would say if you aren’t grinding M+ and higher level raiding it may as well not be in the game at all, because you have no path to ever actually buying a piece.
If your goal was to let a truly casual players know that their gear progression is over then well done. Message received. Will drop the game as soon as the time runs out from this stupid boat mount my better half thought was cool.

That was the first thing I wondered when reading the title here. Did they make it such an absurd number that there isnt much time to get it gathered up before youre moving on to the next.
Bad math is the one of the worst parts of this game.

It is much more efficient to get 4 randoms than 1 perfect one.
As the GM of a Mythic raiding guild, the system is a complete joke in my eyes. Obviously if you don’t care about min/max your raid it doesn’t really affect you that much outside the complete and total removal of reason to trade Azerite armor to other people or for people to trade it to you. Why give away something that’s an upgrade for someone else when it could eventually be part of an upgrade for yourself? I don’t really get the mental gymnastics required to consider this healthy for the game and completely contradicts what was (I think) the point behind changing the god awful no trading decision made at the beginning of the expansion.
No but for Mythic raiders it means yet another source of friction and another hoop to jump through to gear out my raid by figuring out who needs to be rerolling their pieces and possibly giving away an upgrade for someone to someone else that just needs the currency. If this currency just straight up dropped from everything like what the legendary currency that came into the game was towards the end of Legion it wouldn’t feel bad at all. As it stands, like so many other things in BFA, you’ve completely and totally missed the boat.

The system would be a lot better if AP didn’t count as an “item drop” during loot rolls. I stopped buying bonus roll tokens because I frankly got sick of bonus rolling AP all the time. It’s such a stupid system.

The average person isn’t homing in on very specific combinations of traits. The average person is buying the random piece and equipping it because it’s a higher ilvl and using whatever traits it happens to have.

Before AP you just got a negligible amount of gold. It’s not that AP is taking up the same slot as gear when it rolls for you, it’s that you happen to receive a consolation prize. It’s the failure roll.

I think for alts the system works well as it helps you gear with with 400+ items. But for people pushing content 6 weeks is quite a while for a specific piece that you want to target.
Why do you think this isn’t working as intended? Bornakk et al will never outright admit this, but a system that keeps you playing longer is a system that works in Blizzard’s favor. Players’ favor has never been the goal, and increasingly gets lower and lower on the totem pole every expansion.
It would have been better for you (and the backlash you’ve received since) had you made TR only drop from Mythic-level content (scrapped or in chests) and not teased the entire playerbase with another carrot, only to put them at prohibitive costs AND eliminated the general public’s most obtainable source of azerite gear (Incursions).
It truly amazes me how the changes your team(s) make seem to have little to no foresight, considering after 14 years you should know exactly how your players will react. It’s almost purposely punitive, to be honest.

That’s easy. He wants his gear now!!!
As long as there are severely under performing traits the RNG 1750 piece will always be an issue. The fact that a perfect 385 piece outperforms the worst 415 pieces is a huge joke. Please buff the lower performers. Getting useless weekly cache gear and then a useless 415 piece does not make me want to play your game.

System-wise, it’s not entirely bad. But could be better.
For example, WQs could give up to 385 azerite gear, upped from the current 355, because they cannot WF/TF. That will make it easier for people to get their hands on 385 azerite piece in each slot (mind you they wouldn’t be unlocking much of the traits so it wouldn’t damage the game play), and make everybody happy for having more sources of titan residuum to work toward on buying higher ilevel azerite gear.
385 azerite gives 35 residuums i believe, and the number of WQs that give out azerite piece is like 3 on average per day. That’s 100 per day, so it takes 70 days (probably more like 60 days) of dedicated WQ farming for a specific gear. That’s enough for non M+rs/raiders, and would be good income bump for M+rs/raiders.
