Oh dude I am so sorry you must be one those unlucky players blizzard doesnt give keys too that is tough here for your pity party.
if you aren’t doing content like heroic raids or mythic plus (which require a strict time interval), where are you getting runed crests from?
honestly harder delves would be fair, I hope they add them next patch.
If they’re meant to be an endgame pillar, we should see them expanded upon. I kinda hope they add a mega-delve at some point, too.
even if super hard delves gave gilded crests, 2 is a miserable rate to earn them, so m+ would still be better.
not sure i would call it a wall, but there’s definitely a hefty bottleneck going on as a result of a couple of elements of blatantly bad design converging.
the biggest issue i see is that people that need to farm at that keystone level are being displaced and pretty much seeing their progression halted because they’re competing for spots in 8’s with people in the low and mid 630’s…meaning people intended to be pushing higher keys.
these players are currently farming at this keystone level because the current game design actively disincentivizes farming at more “gear appropriate” keystone levels in 2 ways.
first the punishment for failure is excessively high a 66.7% reduction to crests droping in an overtimed key thats enough to make it so that you’re actively hurting yourself by not dropping that key the minute its clear it won’t be timed(another form of degenerate behavior the system encourages) so naturally people are heavily incentivized to avoid even a small percentage chance at failure and naturally gravitate towards the lowest effective keystone level.
secondly the number of crests dropping on a 2…is the same as you will see on a 20 meaning there’s nothing even remotely encouraging people to farm above the sheer minimum keystone lvl the crests they’re after.
these 2 issues to an extent have been with us since this upgrade system was implemented, they just were just so minor they didn’t matter until the keystone squish eliminated the existence of several suitable farming key levels for each crest and while it may be easy to blame the player base, this is purely the result of the devs incentivizing certain behaviors thru their own design…tho i have to admit it’s getting very hard to adhere to hanlon’s razor with the consistency these design issues keep popping up.
in the end reducing the key lvl that X crest drops won’t resolve the issue, dropping mythic track down to x keystone won’t either in fact they’d likely make the issue worse the only thing that will fix it is actually incentivizing the player base to do the opposite.
It does if you are a delve only player. The major problem is that the last 2 upgrades for Heroic track gear, which delves DO reward, require gilded crests, which delves DO NOT drop. I firmly believe you should be able to fully upgrade the gear that drops from your content BY DOING THAT CONTENT. Would either raiders or M+ers be happy if the gilded crests only dropped from the other form of content?? Not bloody likely, so why should delvers?? Prime example of Daddy Blizz kowtowing the the try hards again. T8-T11 delves should drop 2/4/6/8 gilded per bountiful completion. At realistically 6 keys per week that’s only 3 upgrades/week max still way below the raid/M+ numbers so they would still be way further ahead.
Delves. I have run over 400 of them.
Logs 20-30 hours a week into the game but you cant find a single 30 minute window?

What is hilarious here is that delves can drop gilded crests to raise those potential hero track pieces of gear. M+7 never will.
So effectively, delves can net you higher gear than m+7 can. GG.
619 is a Rey Mysterio finisher.
As a guy who grew up in San Diego I got super confused at first.
Yeah but if you’re doing M+7, jumping to 8 is not hard.
Yeah but once you run out of progression, folks tend to quit.
They’re the main character of every 3rd person action RPG without a jump button. Their hard walls are 3 sticks of lumber piled haphazardly.
If you’re really chasing that ilevel then are other progression avenues. Are there going to be obstacles? maybe.
If delves are your true end game, then you probably knew there was a limit before hand. That was never hidden. 619 was always advertised at the top tier for solo content.
While this is true, I know a lot of people that will not do keys over 4 right now, myself included, because they’re just asinine. Used to love doing keys in S1 and 4 of DF. This nonsense? Nope.
Wouldn’t know. I’ve never done a key in the history of WOW. Don’t intend to do so. 619 is my top gearing level currently. Whether I get there or not remains to be seen. It isn’t important to me. However, if I really wanted to then I could start queuing and applying to tank content and work my way up. My paladin is 610 right now and I am doing more old content that I never did before or collecting appearances for Transmog…
Normally I don’t care about it but since I have to do some heavy lifting in raid the higher gear I have, the better.
Seems like you’re moving the goal posts here my friend. They said KSM. We all know m+8 gives better reward with gilded.
If you’re a delve-only player then you’re walling yourself. Also that’s not what the OP said… they were saying it as a general statement.

its elites like you who blizzard has empowered this xpac to feel that a 622ilvl 2227 io rating isnt good enough to get into 8++ keys and give auto declines as soon as you apply.
its ridiculous.
this is why we need a mythic finder que that is based on io and ilvl.
and i could fkn careless if its a pug, id rather take my chances and actually get into a group than wait a day for 1 group.
