No. They discussed adding new expansions or content to the base of Classic. Like the game going into a different direction rather than continuing to BC.
Its what Classic Runescape does. Ion has already responded with no, another dev says it could be a possibility depending on the success.
I hope it goes that way. It’ll be cool to see.
Ah I see. That makes more sense then.
This is the most likely scenario, there will be a small core of dedicated players, and a lot of people will drift in and out. Mostly out.
I’m in the beta and I can say I won’t be playing it much when it goes live.

With people like you playing classic, I am sure we can all tell how successful it will be.

Hopefully through a voting system. They do that in OSRS. Players vote on the content that the devs suggest in the game.
If the players don’t want it, they won’t implement it. etc.
I just used that one because it was probably the most drastic changes from Vanilla and the expansions beyond.
They said based upon the popularity and demand, they would move forward with the expansions but it wouldn’t be something that they started any time soon. It was a couple of years before the first expansion was even launched back then.
Classic, BC, and Wrath have more in common with each other than the other expansions.
Cata and MOP share a lot in common compared to others.
Ion came onboard overseeing everything during WoD, Legion, and now in BFA. You can really tell.

I hope so. Not trying to be contrary. I was just surprised that expansions were on the table for classic.

Yep. This is really interesting. I hope to see progressive classic servers but for now I’m going to actually enjoy grinding again like I used to with Classic.
Honestly, I would be happy if they stopped after Wraith. It was the last expansion I totally enjoyed. After that, things started going in the wrong direction.

Wrath would probably be the last legacy expansion because I doubt there will be a lot of players who’d want to go to Cata. Maybe there would be at that time. That is for the future though and Blizzard will do anything as long as they make a profit.
It is kind of funny that people still ignore that this is exactly what Blizzard predicted would happen with an large initial rush that dies down.
That some people are super hyped for classic is known, that a bunch of people are curious about it is know. That a ton of people will try it at launch is know. That most of them will quit shortly after is what Blizzard expects. That is why they developed their “layering” technology instead of just adding a bunch more servers.

Where did they predict this? When?

its pathetic the fact that there best game they are releasing is a game made by them 15 years ago, wtf happened to this company?

They won’t see you are wasting your breath. Blizzard would not be putting layering in if they didn’t think things would die down.

For the nth time, Blizzard redeveloped Classic primarily as protection against IP theft - not because you people spammed tf out of the forums.

I’ll stroke your ego… I got you bro.
“OH NO! He made fun of me… I have to accept that Classic is going to fail. When someone makes fun of classic, and says I’m wrong for enjoying it, I have to listen to them… Keep up the activism, its helping to get people to never be interested in Classic.”

I’m not feeling it. Sorry.
Arent you the one strutting around with the “They were wrong” and “wait until they are wrong again” attitude from the get go?
