I’ll give you that, mind you I just buy most my gear with Poetics and use the Deep Dungeons to level. I basically don’t even have to buy or gain gear til level 70.
Well you’re allowed to be offended, but no one cares. When I see people Naruto running I can’t help but facepalm, but those kids are having the time of their lives I guess. Spend less time being offended, and more time not caring what other people think would be the moral of the story.

You were literally playing the game since you began at level 1.
Honestly, don’t feel like you have to give it a fair shake, since there’s not really a fair shake we all agree on to begin with since it’s different from person to person anyways. (Or Subjective)
If you dislike it, then you dislike it. You shouldn’t have to be forced to continue something you don’t enjoy. Unless your doing a review of it… 
I mean even now, people are saying I havent given it a chance until i’ve done the raids and I am half tempted to force myself to do that as well…Idk I just been feeling so miserable coming home from work and forcing myself to play FFXIV every single evening…
level 70 and only 52 hours? o.O im 800ish hours in and not even 70. i’ve read ALL the quest dialogues, didn’t skip ANY cut scenes including ending credits. story is good. it doesn’t pick up until later on that is for sure but around 30’s it picks up. even the side quests are good well some are since they are kind of silly.
either way i mean each their own. i liked the story just like WoW but the gameplay idk… feels too slow for me to really get into and invest. mechanics are good. some parts are super boring though just like in WoW. i feel like ff14 is more catered to casual players more then anything

There’s some voice acting, but I agree it’s strange how little voice acting there is compared to the number of cutscenes. It feels odd and I’m not sure which cutscenes are going to surprise me with actual voice acting.
The whole being referred to as the chosen one is something that can be a big turnoff for some people for sure.
The A Realm Reborn areas are definitely the worst and I was struggling some towards the end, esp. once I hit lvl 52 and was doing the ARR patch content. It got better for me once I hit Heavensward content and then the classes started feeling a bit better too.
The classes are definitely slow at the start. At level 70, the classes seem to be pretty well fleshed out, so you have a good idea of whether you like how they play (and it sounds like you don’t).
If you don’t like the combat and the races are boring to you, then yeah I can see not enjoying the game even if you did skip the story. I won’t deny wanting something more along the lines of Khajiit (Elder Scrolls cat people) or Argonian (Elder Scrolls lizard people) instead of FFXIV’s version of cat people or bunny people.
It’s very good of you that you’re willing to give FFXIV a fair shot.

Yeah, yikes. I think that’s when to stop taking people’s demands on that if they are trying to goad you out of your money by spending on something you don’t want to spend on. (Assuming they mean the current raids) 
People who say things like that, wouldn’t accept you disliking something they like anyways even if you did do what they say. I mean imagine if the same is said for WoW. “Oh you need to raid before you can properly judge it, oh and not on LFR.”.

Take it from me, i tried to give it a fair chance, but i couldn’t put myself though it because i was bored with the game before i even got to level 10. Just wasn’t my cup of tea. I much rather play literally anything else other then FF14. Or any Final Fantasy for that matter.
And i don’t accept this whole “Oh it gets better 100 hours in”. No. Either it starts off good in under 2 hours and gets better during those 100+ hours or i’m out.
And I am saying it is offensive to my culture to not call it a weeb game.

Yeah I really can’t get into the anime stuff. Warcraft has a cool metal theme And a set of lore and culture based on medieval European culture. Final fantasy has a Japanese theme that is a big nope for me. I wasn’t a big fan of MOP either.

Honestly am just so mad at myself…I don’t think I’ve ever played a mmorpg and get 20 hours into it and not have a single fun experience.
The only fun experience I’ve been having is making fun of the characters… like when you get to heavensward and the house yarl tells you his man servant will help you around the city, and you realize he has no name… it’s literally just called manservant.
I don’t even hate Japanese themes though, I loved mop, read manga and watch anime…I just can’t enjoy playing cringy weeb games like Genshin Impact

Oh im only 360 hours in LMFAO!. maybe i was thinking of another game but yea i’d say at least i put in a straight 200 hours doing side quest and all that. slow reader as well. i don’t remember what level i left off at i assume 60’s though as im at the ending of HW only.
pretty much just took my time doing w.e. i wanted to do to judge the game on my own opinion.

Yeah I’m in hs and found iceheart, the music was all dramatic but I just don’t care… like there was a tiny dragon, she’s telling me she’s like me we both get visions??
you got ARR then you got the long boring quests after ARR just to get into HW. i got stuck after ARR those quests were pretty damn boring until the ending part where it got better.
i did other stuff to like side quests, tried to do cooking profession, farming mounts from the event for the car, lots of gold saucer, leveling other classes to try um out since i went healer first and it was kinda boring.
