504 Gateway Time-out

I cannot open my account with Blizzard because I get error " 504 Gateway Time-out"

Also, I could post on the General Discussion forum this morning but when I try now it says I don’t have an account / game time. However, I’ve had an account for 17 years, and I have game time thru to December.

When I try to create a new topic in General Discussions forum I get this error “You need an active World of Warcraft subscription to post on this forum.”.

So, what’s going on? Am I being hacked?

I can’t speak on the bad gateway, but try logging out of the forums and then back in. Sometimes the forums want to be wonky and the fresh log-in takes care of that. If logging in and out a time or two doesn’t work, try changing your password.

It also might not hurt to clear your browser’s cookies/cache.

Unlikely.

Thanks, I’ll try that.

I was able to see my account details in a round-about way and it says I have paid game time until Dec 16, 2023

Okay, I completely shut down my Mac, then restarted. No updates but there is a Blizzard notice that says:

“We’ll be performing a live maintenance on Wednesday, October 4th from 9:00 AM (PDT) to 11:00 AM (PDT). During this time, players may experience interruptions of service including disconnects, but should be able to log back in.”

Could this be causing the problem?

I can post & reply on this forum but in the General Discussions form I can only view, “like” someone post, or flag a post. I don’t even have the option to post a comment on someone topic, and I cannot create a whole new topic of my own.

I can now see my account as usual, no changes there, and it says I have gametime paid up until Dec. 16, 2023.

My questions:

Do you think it’s an issue they are working on?

Is it only happening to me for some reason?

Is it because I’m using a Mac computer?

Only during those times.

You mentioned you restarting your system, but did you log out of the forums and back in? Have you tried clearing your browsers cookies and cache and/or tried private browsing or incognito mode?

No. We’re not seeing reports of an issue.

It shouldn’t, but check your browser. You may also want to check to see if your browser needs to be updated.

Yes, earlier I logged out and back in but had the same problem. I also tried changing the character who was logged in, and back again but had issues.

I just now (8:55 PM, PST) logged out of the wow website again, and when I logged back in again I can now reply to posts in General Discussions. So, I guess it’s fixed?

Thank you for your help

P.S. my browser is Safari and I have the latest version

Update 10/5/23 Apple pushed the new Mac OS Sonoma to me this morning. It could be that Blizzard knew about the Mac OS changes coming and that caused the problem yesterday? We’ll never know
