Why does this still exist in 2024? All I want to do is renew my sub.

It being the year hasn’t really relevant , servers can have issues.
Just tried via the web shop and it seems to be fine, but i don’t have a account needing a subscription enough to bill out yet.

I’ve tried paying twice since this post, and still, the error. There’s nothing on my end that should be causing it, and I don’t even know what the error stands for, but it’s blocking me from renewing my sub.
Internet is not perfect. Irrespective that it’s 2024, bugs will happen.
It’s a problem, a bug, with an internal server or a script within it - it could be with Blizzard, could also be with the 3rd party purchase authorisation vendor used.

Try using a different browser or device, try through the launcher or website. Please try a few of the different options to see if something is wonky.

I tried buying the 60 day game time from the shop only for it to say I have an active account, which I don’t. I have tried going directly through the shop, the account settings and the character select screen, only to be denied every time. It’s frustrating.
