50 character per account limit needs lifted

I’m about 87% sure the account cap has always been 50. Realm cap was 12 (9 back in the day i think) but they changed that to 50 recently as well.

i agree with OP only if they allow me to merge accounts so that I’d have 3 accounts instead of 5.

Merge Bnet accounts?

No you don’t. I also never asked what you had to do or didn’t have to do. I really don’t care. You left out the rest of my context where I said, if you want more than 50 slots to get another account. Something you’ve clearly already done if you’re a multiboxer.

merge WoW accounts, not b . net accounts. You can own multiple accounts of WoW and it has a dropdown list that lets you pick which one when you press the log in button on the launcher.

Yes I do

Open forum, can comment on what I want

Ok

Got 5 now, if you see a group of Disc priests running around whose name all starts with K (unintentional) except for one whose name starts with a Y /wave

Give me a sec I’ll whip something up for you, I have so much fun with this stuff

So you’re a troll. Gotcha! Thanks for the heads up so I can place you on ignore.

“Please do not attempt to have Fun™️ in unapproved ways.” is one of the lynchpins of WoW’s design philosophy, so naturally the community has come to reflect this.

I do not know what percentage of the player base would actually need more than 50 slots. Actively using them for play doesn’t seem realistic but after 15 years of existence I can see a desire not to delete characters with lots of hard work applied to them. My big concern with raising the cap would be an explosion of name reserving. There are already tons of names that cannot be used and remain so for at least 3-4 years once made.

I think you misunderstood what I meant? I have so much fun with my multiboxing software

If you have me on ignore now that’s sad :frowning:

I made that picture for YOUUUU!

Why won’t you love meeeee

Actually if a name is made on an active account, it will stay there forever or until deleted.

The 4 year thing only applies to people that don’t have an active account.

It’s adorable!

I always though that the name loss could happen if it was a character not logged onto that met the name release window, even for an active account - I have always played it safe. Regardless, there are tons inactive accounts that will continue to hold the names until they fit the name release criteria. Like you said though, that just releases the names, continuing to play or leave then return regularly just hold the names indefinably.

No. Blizzard will never, or has ever, taken a name from an active account. The only exception is if the name breaks the CoC then nobody gets it.

Character names on accounts that have been inactive for the past two expansions automatically become eligible to be used by other characters. We do not assist with releasing character names manually.

I love official sources  https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/11226

That’s a long time though, 2 xpacs would be at least 4 years of inactivity

Nothing is preventing you from making a Starter account and reserve names that way. Also, I asked a GM about name purges and such once and they recommended that I log into the character once or twice per expansion to hang on to the name.

I yield lol. I had read too much into it, but at least on the safe side. :grinning:

That is a big number.

We need a character slot squish.
50 slots is just way too much! It’s intimidating to new players.
To be faced with 50 character slots!

All you people whining and saying no people don’t need more character slots, sorry to disappoint you but more slots don’t affect you in any way shape or form. The only people that it affects are the people that are going to use them. Argue all you want, give any excuse you want, once again it doesn’t affect you, so in other words, youre wasting your breath.

/silly should be an official forum tag that changes your font to comic sans

Nix the cap altogether.
There should be a “Who Has the Most Alts” contest.
