50 character per account limit needs lifted

With Shadowlands on the horizon I really think they need to increase the number of characters per account. There’s doesn’t need to be a limit of 50. Please make it 60-100. Leveling is going to be so much quicker it’s going to increase the amount of alts people will have.

As a long time player like many people out there, 50 is cutting it too close for most of us.

We’ve had the recruit a friend boost where we got encouraged to level with friends and was extremely broken in WOTLK allowing you to give free levels to the main account. Increasing the amount of characters people had on their accounts.

People like to play one of every class. These last few expansions we got free character boost when you bought the expansion. That adds up more character slots that people can enjoy.

Allied races encourages you to level if you want their heritage armor. For my boosted characters, I’d like to get their heritage armor with this xp boost so I’ve been working on that.

Some people don’t want to level old characters because of the value and memories they had with them. My friend keeps his old ret paladin around because he got Shadowmourne back in the day and he just wants to keep it as is without continueing it. He mains many other characters now.

In summary, People want to play each race and mess around low level content or level up for heritage armor. People enjoy having the freedom to play all these cool new races and be able to play one of each class. Please lift the 50 character limit to something more reasonable for us long term players / alt-o-holics. 50 is just not enough anymore. This game is 15 years old. Its not ridiculous to ask for this. It’s an easy thing for Blizzard to bring at any moment.

I would love to see what characters you have.

Woah man! You can’t expect to have unlimited fun!!!

It would be really nice. I have 12-14 characters on 3 different servers, which pretty much places me at the character cap.

And once you hit 100 characters on your account, but cant bring yourself to delete the 70 you havent played in over a year, what then?

I can almost guarantee that at least 10 of your characters carry no memories, and will likely never be played again.

The idea is nice. Less restrictions is always good. But it’s probably not going to happen.

Thanks for the half-insult. I do know how to get things done, but I also know what is and isn’t worth the time.

This just needs to be added to the store as an account purchase since most people don’t need this.

Yeah, if they wanted to go full EA on this, all they would need to do is sell additional character slots in the store. It’s a bit cynical, but people would still buy them.

Why is it cynical? I realize most people don’t need it so the few who do should be willing to pay for something extra.

Meanwhile, I have like, 3 characters.

Tons of deleted ones, over 20, because as expansions roll out, classes change and I can’t be bothered to re-learn something at max level, so I’ll start from scratch.

I also enjoyed leveling for a time, before Twinks killed casual low level PvP battleground leveling, and LFG dungeon exp was nerfed hard. It used to be faster.

The only character who stays 100% is my original vanilla main, and he’s the reputation, mount, and mog collector.

Because it likely doesn’t cost Blizzard much to add character slots.

I cannot begin to wrap my head around having 50+ characters.

But if you can pull it off, more power to you.

So, you acknowledge it isn’t a free service then? Now it doesn’t sound so cynical.

One of every class on 3 servers is 36 characters. If you have more than 1 of a class, like from allied races; or if you have played on more than 3 servers, it’s pretty easy to go over that number.

Personally I’ve deleted a number of level 80+ characters to free up space.

No, I just said it likely doesn’t cost them much. It’s possible it wouldn’t cost them anything. I don’t have first-hand knowledge of Blizzard’s servers and how much data a character uses.

It’s not as bad as you might think. I personally use google docs and I keep track of all mine that require it.

16 are on Gorefiend. 15 of those 16 feed Shadina. Then I’ve got 15 on WRA and 13 on MG. My lady and I write together so we have various pairs - google docs / sheets is great for keeping track of D&D related things regarding RP toons such as alignment, mate, skill set, OOC information, etc.

While this is a good idea, it is unlikely Blizzard will do it, as a customer can already create and pay for a second account which nets them higher profit.

Which is also why there are not going to increase the character limit per account for free.

Every character you make even if you play or not takes server space. If it was lifted a few people can make thousands of characters just to be silly and weight a huge load on server space.
