That was total, but do carry on. I was 23 at launch, assuming you were 12 and have a failing memory, it’s not hard to google the actual number.
I have around 20 and I’m overwhelmed and don’t have enough time to play them all. How in the world do you manage with 50+. OMG.
Did I say hoarding anything else is fine?
But hey, don’t let me get in the way of your narrative.
/coffeesip
You have your own narrative so who cares?
No life/No Job/Addicted/Disability.
Oh, MAN. You sure got me. Guess I’ll just go sulk in a corner and call my mom.
Oh gods yes to both of these OP.
More character slots.
More quest log slots.
Ridiculous they haven’t already.
Why? Why double? Why not triple? Why not increase it tenfold? Why not remove the limit altogether?
I like your ideas, man!
Let’s do what this guy says. Better solution.
Can’t believe I just bumped into this thread. I couldn’t agree more with the original poster. While I seldom multi-box, you’d be right in assuming that I definitely take advantage of leveling strategies that require a higher level of play and knowledge of the game’s mechanics. Because of this, over about 5 years, I’ve accumulated ~40 max level characters, 28 of which became max level this expansion alone (thank you Korrak’s Revenge).
As for the 50 character limit, I don’t think it’s an issue of not being able to actively play that many characters. While I do appreciate the fact that each character requires space on a database to retain, I’d be willing to wager that at least a large minority of our subscription money pays to keep those databases up and running. If a friend wants to create a new character who also does not play as much as I do, and my account is at the character limit, my only choice to play with him would be to delete a character that is at max level, which feels like punishment for playing the game more than the average person. This is why I think the limit should be increased; people who want to create many characters across several realms can, and people who play casually don’t experience any change in their gameplay whatsoever.
With the advent of Allied Races, it seem Blizzard is pushing people more and more to create multiple characters to experience legacy content, and to have a reason to level again (especially with the Winds of Wisdom buff). It would then logically follow that with more characters, a greater number of total characters should be allowed. This is only my opinion, however, and I understand the reasons Blizzard may have for not agreeing with it, but I feel that increasing the character limit would only serve as a positive to the game’s health.
This is the absolute last thing that Ion and his gang think about.
A year ago at this time 50 characters on an account you needed to seek help. Now it’s the norm since Blizzard gave free 120’s with Korrak’s revenge and double XP right now.
The game has been out for well over 15 years, it’s not that difficult to get 50 characters leveled in a decade and a half.
I just want to pop this back up here… Now that we’ve been out there questing away and alt-ing it up and grindy grindy on the rep…
I’m sorely out of toon space. Can we please get at least 10 more slots?
Hugs & Kisses,
-Val
Couldn’t agree more! I’ve deleted a few to get enough space to create a couple new ones. I’m about to start up a second account just to create some allied races. I have 2 horde servers and 1 alli server packed full.
Also I cannot believe how rude some people have been. How dare they suggest you delete a character. It’s like killing a family member. No way!
I hear your pain. I’m in trouble now because my daughter wants me to level up with one of her new allied toons… and that means… sacrifices must be made.
My guess is that they’ve raised it before (and will raise it again) when they find that a significant amount of people are at (or are very close to) the limit.
With the current extremely generous limit, this is no doubt an extreme fringe wishlist request right now. I’m going to guess less than one half of one percent of people have this problem and can’t resolve it. Both because it’s an insane number that even most severe altoholics will never hit, and because any semi-reasonable person that does hit it is going to either:
- Buy another account
- Delete some characters
I have not reached 50 character limit but the master plan of possible character concepts exceeds 50 easily. I just won’t likely have time to get around to realizing them all but it would be nice to not have to make cuts when and if that time comes.
The game is 15 years old. With all of the additional races, classes they’ve added, the free boosts they throw in it’s pretty reasonable to have accumulated a pretty big stable. In that time you can put real time into many characters and even if they get touched once in 6 months, you don’t want to just delete them because you’ve put something into them and they’re part of your wow experience.
I promise you that no one who’s asking for the 50 character limit to be increased is keeping up with endgame content on even half of those characters. You can take your charitable concern for our well being and give it to someone else.
After 15 years, that 50 character limit is starting to be a concern for me at least. I enjoy creating different character combinations and experiencing the different gameplay of each class and spec. I also like to see the different animations and models for each race. Especially now that gender-changes will be available in the barber shop.
I think the limit is a good thing, in that it prevents people from just making hundreds of lvl 1 characters to do unintended things with. But how about this:
LOWER the limit to 36, 1 per spec in the game, increasing if they add any classes/specs.
MAX level characters do NOT count towards the limit
If an expansion raises the max level and causes you to go over the limit, you do NOT have to delete any characters, but you cannot create any new ones until you level enough to max level to get yourself under the limit.
Essentially the idea would be to allow for as many characters as you want, provided you level them all the way up, and also allow for a roster of twinks and other toons in the process of leveling.
Hey, I like having lots of different characters for roleplaying purposes, in addition I am using half of my slots to anchor in RP communities for all the North American realms. 50 was not difficult to hit and most of my characters make a contribution to the community by connecting others.
Aside from practical anchors and roleplaying characters, we are also as many have other pointed out, looking at Allied Races now with new class combinations. There’s not enough room to bolster the roster with the new options now. An increase of 10 characters would be a huge boon.
Haha! 200 Night Elf Hunters!! YEESSSS!
