5 second loot/ability lag is awesome

Had to check OP wasn’t from OCE.

We’ve been having issues since the implementation of warmode sharding. Minor and major lag affecting world content (100% fine in instanced content)
There is a post something like 2500+ comments long in the tech support forum going since Aug last year.

Only reason the post slowed down in comments is people started to realise nothing seemed to be getting done :frowning:
30ms home and 30ms world though…le sigh…

It was sporadic issues before 8.2 then suddenly, wham, I’m seeing lag on looting. Maybe not 5 seconds, but enough there is a pregnant pause when you loot a body. It has gotten better, but they did something that created issues.

It’s pretty sad. You can’t even WPVP in Nazjatar half the time because it’s so laggy. My friend said that they went overboard with the high definition models of everything from mobs, spells and player models, that the servers literally cannot handle it. People forget it’s not just about the connection, it’s about how much information needs to be sent.

This is why 4K streaming can cost more, and requires more bandwidth. They 100% overdid the visuals. The problem is, turning your graphics down doesn’t actually help fix this. It’s baked into the core of the game, basically. You’re gonna lag, and you’re gonna deal with it. Or, you know, just play something else. Something that can handle, say, 10 people fighting each other? Pretty sad.

The lag was getting bad today. Lots of combat lag as well, Interrupts not going off, waiting for combo points to show up in the mail.

Weird that it’s now. Was pretty stable a couple weeks ago when things were much more crowded.

Yeah, me and several guildies/friends were noticing it today. My favorite was shift-click looting, not realizing I didn’t snag something on Mechagon, hearthing out, seeing it in the mail, and it was a quest item to turn in. In Mechagon. Whee. Back on a gryphon…

At 58ms, no, it isn’t my router. No interruptions in TV (same ISP), no interruptions on FB or YouTube while I’m tabbed out on said gryphon. Also none of my friends use my router and live in entirely different areas of the country. Some of them on the west coast, even, where I think the server is. Cenarion Circle is west coast time zone, at least.

You could just…feel the server being clunky, today.

It’s embarrassing that the servers are still this trash when there are many people in one area.

Isnt it funny we pay 15 a month for that sexy lag.

Absolutely. Everything else Internet related works just fine, including streaming movies to the television while playing. And switching characters and/or zones will generally result in better performance.

It’s definitely on Blizzard’s end and likely somehow related to the sharding technology.

You’re crazy OP.

It’s a conshpirashy.

/hands out tinfoil hats to blizz employees

It’s 100% the server. Not on my end. It’s specifically Tirisgarde (probably due to Boralus) that it occurs in. Sometimes in Nazjatar. Last night while doing my daily WQ rounds, the lag was present in Tirisgarde. I hopped over into Stormsong, lag instantly gone. Back into Tirisgarde, and the lag is instantly back.

I doubt an add on is causing me to lag in one specific zone with consistent repeatability.

Joining certain groups seemed to radically increase loot lag for me, I suspect I got crz’d into another “battle group” or server cloud or whatever.

It happens very commonly in Suramar.

Dude I dealt with this sense last year. I did everything and then some. Here the thing I boosted my internet by 5 on both side doing all that. It still lags. Loving the extra speed on other games. Wow has something wrong on their end. It time the company take some responsibility and stop putting it all on the customer.
