5 days and count waiting for ban appeal response

Is this a normal time frame?

Yes it is. I believe that they’re currently at the 1-week mark last I heard.

Oh damn okay, thank you

Your appeal is open but I’d like to clear up a few things.

  1. This isn’t a ban, it’s a suspension.

  2. This ends on 10/17, the length of time was determined by the number of previous infractions of like nature on the account.

  3. I’m seeing a bit of toxicity here, nothing too over the top, although I’d recommend you try to avoid that…until you start using slurs about others intelligence, and dropping F bombs.

These are valid complaints, I’m afraid there is nothing this appeal is going to do other than validate the points above.

Yeah I’m just in the habit of using ban/suspension interchangeably. I figured that would be the reason for the length. I agree there are valid complaints about some of the things I’ve said to people in blitz for sure, but as you said, nothing really over the top. Planning to use the new feature to turn chat off I learnt about after telling people I got suspended lol.

Sounds like I’ll be sitting the full duration, but thanks for the response anyhow.

Just to emphasize here, a part you did not acknowledge:

General toxicity isn’t okay - throwing out slurs and vulgarities even more so. That last bit is absolutely over the top.

Good luck to you when you’re able to play once more. Hopefully this time-out will be your last, a lesson hard learned.

Just to clarify, as I think this kind of implies I used the F-slur. I didn’t. I do use the F word that rhymes with duck. I’m not 100% sure what a slur about others intelligence is, but I do 100% question the intelligence of my team mates in blitz sometimes.

I’d recommend keeping that to yourself, or just disabling chat in Blitz, in the future. There’s really no benefit to saying it.

Thats the plan!

For peace of mind, they’re pretty good about making distinguishment between language about someone’s ethnicity or sexuality and general inappropriate chat. Orlyia did just mean the use of the four-lettered F word, not the other one.

For sure I don’t think the Blue post implied I did, I think the guy quoting it may have misunderstood!

No, in this context, I believe Orlyia means exactly what you you say you do use. Those are not allowed; not explicit, not masked, not shortened, not misspelled, not missing the vowel, not starred out (which is similar to masked). Not at all.

Wait really??? Whats the point of the mature language filter then?

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. It’s part of being an adult.

I mean obviously. Some things are a lot more intuitively bad things to say, I think most people wouldn’t include cuss words that a huge majority of the population probably uses on a daily basis in that list though.

Its for parents to make sure there kids dont see anything inapropriate and for blizzard to maintain there esrb rating.

Frankly if you have to be toxic ingame then a mmorpg isnt apropriate and players are finding out the hard way.

TLDR
Freedom of speech doesnt apply to private buissneses.

Just seems weird that if there is a defined list of words your account can be actioned for saying, that those words can even be typed into the game. Why give the option to turn off the mature language filter if mature language isn’t allowed anyway?

It helps to prevent kids from seeing it or similar. Odd that the base words don’t auto-censor, I do agree there, but masked swears like a similar character in place of a letter are still violations and would be less effectively caught. Also, I’ve seen some really terrible detection in other games. Pokemon censoring the english name of a Pokemon being a standout.

But why do you need to be rude and toxic in the first place if you have to be toxic to get your point across. Then the problem is you.

I don’t need to be. I’ve already accepted responsibility that I was toxic in chat and that it’s the reason for my suspension. Never denied it.
