Hey super excited to get started in SOD but I’m shocked there has been no update on server names or a download so everyone isn’t downloading at the same time as servers launch. Can someone fill me in on why this is not happening? The guild I’m playing with can’t decide on were we are playing and mass hysteria on the first day picking a server seems not fun. I know that there going to be super servers or so has been said but still would like to be able to plan a bit with the people I’m playing with. And help on this topic would be great!

We won’t know the realm names until the servers go live.

All we know* is that there’s 1 pve server, 2 pvp servers, and 1 rp-pvp server
*Knowledge is dubious because not long after these were reported, the server list started freaking out, changing to all rp-pvp, and then with a bunch of new servers popping up and then disappearing…

It’s just a super weird thing to do with them only having a few realms. It would make sense if they had the same amount of realms as OG classic. All they really are doing is causing people who are playing both factions and with multiple groups of people a headache when it goes live
Maybe, maybe not. For the PvE server there’s only one option so it doesn’t matter, for the PvP/RP-PvP servers They’re going to faction balance so if you knew the server names and selected one ahead of time you may run into an issue creating a character and have to go to the other one anyways. Granted that will likely be an issue regardless as the population on the server grows some members of your group may have to wait for the factions to balance before being allowed to create a character.
In classic my guild was in discord. We chose a server together. We posted the chosen server in discord for those who couldnt play at launch.
How do guild leaders not think of that? Do they panic at every road block?

They suggested that everyone just has discord and do an @everyone announcing what server people should roll on.

They already confirmed no realm names in advance, as well as probably never doing it again in the future
Yeah, My impression was that we will get server names when they go live on the 30th, not a minute before.
Na they don’t but planing is better then just selecting it on the fly i feel anyway

as far as the download they have said that era is already running on the patch for sod so there will be no new download
Someone has been having a lot of fun with the server name teasing, though.
Right now, there is only one PvE server showing, and it’s “The One Realm”
more like a few mins after.
yes yesterday, noticed at least a dozen red “X” and not only on the classic but retail and Wotlk… but always reverted back to just 4 servers afterwards.
That’s because when it was showing 4 red X listings. If you clicked on WOTLK or the other unrelated tab it would show like 3 offline servers. Then if you went back to where the seasonal listing was it would add those 3… So if you went back and forth on the tabs enough you could have an entire page (or more) of that red x server listed. Then if you closed the browser and came back again it would go back to “normal” unless you started changing tabs again.
That was “fixed” when the single listing was put in instead.
I hope they make a server named Illidan.
They changed it to:
Never … Normal
Gonna … PVP
Give … PVP
You … RP-PVP
Up … Normal
