Hello. After raising a ticket (no resolution, directed to Technical Support forum), Technical Support have not been able to assist and have directed me here.
I have been receiving multiple disconnects to my account for some weeks. Always the generic 319 disconnect error.
I play on Cata Classic (Remulos).
Error replicated multiple characters in multiple situations (raiding, major cities, travelling), up to several times and hour.
cleared all add ons, renamed and then deleted cache folders, same issue.
bought a new laptop, ensured all Windows and graphics drivers are updated, same issue.
replicated issue across wifi, ethernet and mobile hotspot (not the same carrier as ISP), same disconnects.
tested with a VPN for sale of thoroughness - same issue.
wiped all add-ons again on new machine, same issue
I have raised multiple jobs with my isp who have not identified any dropouts or degradation of service.
Iâve tried the IPv6, windowed mode and other various âfixesâ on these forums and Reddit etc, no change.
I do not know why the Tech MVP directed you to create a post in the Customer Support forum when Tech Support is the appropriate place for this. I do apologise youâve been bounced around so much.
Agreed, and I will continue to engage in the TS space. Iâm at a point where any visibility is good visibility, so I appreciate that at least here, there has been some notice
Would see about doing a traceroute (sp) you can look it up or ts can tell you how. Could find a bad connection or connections between you and the server
I had a similar problem a few years ago and went through all of what you have done, as well.
I ultimately ran a program (forgot the name) to track my connections and kept finding a consistent location showing problems.
I had Comcast out multiple times and they kept telling me everything was fine on their end. I FINALLY had a senior person come out and verify that it was the actual line connection to my house.
Comcast was checking everything up to my house and REPEATEDLY tried to cancel my appointments. When the last guy came out, he showed me my cable line to the house. He said it was so old and cracked that he couldnât remember the last time they had used one that color!!
Solved my problems. Maybe that can help you too. Just remember the internet companies are not always thorough.
I can confirm I have gone through those topics and covered most of them multiple times in order to ensure a new Laptop was not contributing to the error. In short:
Ethernet/Wifi/Mobile Hotspot all same issue (VPN tried just in case, no change). Router replaced and no change. Ethernet cable replaced, no change. ISP checked (twice) - no change.
Laptop - bought a new one about 7-10 days ago. Full WoW reinstall (including BNet), replicated error with and without addons, + deleted the cache folders. Repeatedly checked (and continuing to check) Windows and graphics drivers. Full nVidia reinstall, no overlay.
I know this is a stretch, but the only recent change to my Battlenet account (Battlenet anything really) ,was that i had a brief download of Warcraft Rumble and merged the login into my primary Bnet account. Itâs co-incidental, but the problems seem to have occurred since then (correlation does not equal causation etc).
Questions: Do you have any other background applications running in the background while connecting to WoW? Something that could require high internet usage? Even downloading other stuff while playing WoW could cause disruptions and disconnections from WoW.
Did you also check the Wireless/LAN drivers on your computer, making sure those are also up to date.
Iâve replicated the error with any âsupplementaryâ programs like Discord, CurseForge etc turned fully off (not just minimised). Ditto other devices connected - theyâre removed from the network.
All Wireless/LAN drivers were checked individually as well as via Windows update.
The only symptom i can notice as I am not in the game currently, is that the BNet client appears to reset (if that makes sense). I am actively connected, it then attempts to re-establish the connection.
During that, there is no loss of connectivity, no scans being performed by any anti-virus or the Windows defender, and no background function being performed - especially not to the frequency that the disconnects are occurring.
For Vorsol - Iâve used a US blizzard address and tried a couple of IP addresses from other forum posts. All have gone through, noting that there are some time out reports along the way - however my understanding is that not all data might be available/displayed for various reasons? (Iâm not pretending to be a tracert expert!)
Hmmm, there has to be something that is disrupting your connection between your computer and World of Warcraft servers.
As Vorsol said, youâll need to trace route between you and the server, see where the connection issue is. Because there isnât really a problem with the servers, as far as Iâm aware.
Open up command prompt, and with the command âtracert IP Addressâ, it should help trace where the issue is.
Here is the data, pinging an Oceanic IP (Iâm Aussie)

I would post this info over in the Tech Support forum. There are some fantastic people who are very good at looking at these and providing advice.
Personally, and Iâm not super-techy, those âRequest timed outâ at the start look odd. Now, Iâm in Canada and my tracert looks totally different, but I do have some timeouts that might correspond, but mine are my 10-14th hops.
Just wondering if thereâs an issue along the route. Might be worth talking to your ISP about.
The ip addresses for blizzard are no longer public. Tech support mvps canât discern if tests are run to a correct ip because they are no longer known.
Truth. There are also no more Blue Tech Support forum folks anymore. Not since last January.
Oh boy⌠Aussie in particular means you have finicky internet infrastructure in the country.
The test you want is WinMTR. That one sends as many packets as you want over time - let it run 10 mins or so. It checks every hop to see your latency and packet loss on those hops during that test session. A Tracert only sends 3 pings so you get a tiny snapshot of what is going on only during that second in time. Useful, but not as useful as WinMTR when looking for intermittent issues.
There is also some connection discussion on Overwatch regarding Blizzard Australia server connections - being placed on SEA instead of the Sidney server. Resulting in poor performance or DCs. There is no input from Blizzard on it, but if there are issues with OW players then it stands to reason that there may be issues for WoW players esp if connecting to the same datacenters.
I do want to say, your troubleshooting is fantastic. You are doing all the right things to rule things in/out, being helpful, trying to work with people to find the problem.
Looking at the post Iâm thinking itâs more a character stuck issue, not a connection issue, either the stuck character service or a GM stuck ticket might be needed.
