I’ll reiterate what I posted in the beta thread on this subject.
The bank is a quality of life feature. Every quality of life feature that has been implemented such as dual talent specialization, increased flight speed, etc. has had their costs removed or drastically slashed. Whereas toys, mounts, and pets designed as a gold sink have remained static.
Also for part of an expansion feature it just gives a bad look as a not insignificant portion of the player base would need to purchase several tokens to afford it
I do question since it is basically a guild bank for your account if it’s not just a legacy thing. It is one thing for a group of players to pitch in to cover the costs, but for one person it’s a challenge.
I never understood this need of “gold sink” in the game. While you’re playing the game normally there is no much of need of gold sink, in fact when they add something very expensive you need to go out of your way and make gold to buy it.
I just went in and added up every gold reward DF quest and came to approx 3,350g. So yes, if I did those on 8 characters, that would come to around your figure. While the dragon races too award gold, I can’t do more than one or two of them due to arthritis in my wrist which makes the rapid movements uncomfortable, and becoming painful if I do it more than a short while.
Its certainly something I try to do but at bad times I have to limit my play, sadly.
The last tab is really jus there so people can brag about having it. You are basically getting a guild vault for yourself for about 750k. Just ignore the last tab and be happy with the massive bank size boost.
There’s also treasures. (I gathered about 3k gold on a fresh level 10 character on a server where I had no existing characters, etc. just spending about an hour flying around gathering treasures in DF and vendoring the greys.)
There’s also legacy raids. (I was farming legacy raids yesterday for transmogs, spent about 2 hours, made about 10-15k gold just vendoring the drops.)
