So, now that account-wide mounts are a thing, am I to assume that if you have at least one 310% speed mount (which all can now access), then all alts with 300 riding skill will be automatically upgraded to the 310% skill come Cata pre-patch, or will that be given only to the character who directly obtained the 310% mount(s)?
Not sure about alts tbh. Not sure how it will work. But in OG Cata, if you already had 310% mount in bags, you didn’t have to buy 5,000 gold riding skill.
If you didn’t have any 310% speed mounts, you could pay 5,000 gold to learn it for all mounts. But it was all character specific.
Given that 280% is character specific in Wrath, I’d imagine, once 280% is learnt, all toons will auto learn 310% as well due to access to the mount…But i don’t know for sure.

We don’t know yet, because account-wide mounts were not available when this change was made. Gotta wait for the PTR/Beta.

Mount speed is mount-specific now, not character-specific.
I logged on a level 77 alt that hasn’t directly earned a 310 flyer. When mounting a 280% flyer, his speed was 380% of normal. When mounting a 310% flyer, his speed was 410% of normal.
I’m pretty sure that if you have the achievement for the mount you get the speed for free, otherwise you’d need to pay the 5k.

I was explicitly talking about the SKILL you pay 5,000 gold for.
That’s exactly why I’ve been curious. Obviously in OG Wrath, they just gave the 310% skill to any characters who obtained a 310 mount at some point/had the achievement, etc. But it seems weird to have our alts flying at 310% now and then have it taken away later. Idk.
It would be nice if they just bumped up to 310% and remove the 280% flight speeds.
This is already a thing. I have the ulduar mount and its 310 on any character with max riding.
No, in Cata, 310% speed is an actual level of riding skill, so in original Wrath, if you already had a 310% mount, you were then automatically upgraded to that skill level (just like if you had a 100% ground mount before TBC pre-patch). The part we’re not sure of is if all your alts will also be upgraded to that skill level in Cata now that mounts are all account-wide. They may only do that for the character(s) that obtained those mounts directly.

I believe that 310 mount speed will be linked to achievements because I think every 310 mount that are currently in the game have an achievement to go with it, whether that’s a FoS or a Glort of the Raider achievement.
