Eventually, Gnome and Goblins were going to get their Allied races. Of course they’re not going to make some race and shove it onto their respective rigs. If you look:
Nightborne - Night Elf
Void Elf - Blood Elf
High mountain Tauren - Tauren
Lightforged Draenei - Draenei
Mag’har Orcs - Orcs
Dark Iron Dwarves - Dwarves
Zandalari Trolls - Trolls
Kul’tiran Humans - Humans
It’s slightly different with the Humans and Trolls, but they’re still Humans and Trolls, they just got a bit of a different rig. These two new Allied Races are just following this, with:
Vulpera - Goblins
Mechagnomes- Gnomes
It was going to happen, regardless of if people wanted it or not. Each original race is getting a counter part. We only have Undead and Worgen left (outside of Pandaren, which might not happen, but hear me out: updated Tuskarr using Pandaren rigs…) and after that, all of the base races will have an Allied Race loosely based on it.
Now, if we want to argue that certain Allied Races should have just been cosmetic options for the base race, I’ll absolutely agree. Many of these didn’t have to be a separate race and should have just been customization. But other than that, it’s just giving more racial options using the similar bodies that we’re all familiar with. There’s really no reason to get up in arms about either of them.
