Some background:
I have 4 WoW accounts.
- WoW1 - purchased years ago.
- WoW2 - purchased 19 November 2024.
- WoW3 and 4 - purchased 21 November 2024.
Been playing WoW for years, so I wanted to try something new - multiboxing.
Created 4 horde characters on the launch of the fresh Nightslayer PvP server:
- Rogue (dps) - WoW1 (old account)
- Warrior (tank) - WoW2 (new account)
- Priest (healer) - WoW3( new account)
- Hunter (dps) - WoW4 (new account)
My set-up:
- Opened 4 WoW accounts, each set to play in windowed mode and reduced the size of each window, so all 4 characters fit my screen.
- Created in-game macros - follow macro for traveling and attack macro for fighting.
- Manually clicked on each window and pressed an action key.
No software, no hardware to automate multiboxing.
Everything was functioning smoothly until November 28, when I received an email stating that three of my four WoW accounts had been closed due to the use of unauthorized cheat programs (hacks). I have not utilized any hacks, and my entire setup relied solely on in-game macros and windowed mode. Interestingly, only the three new accounts were banned, while my old WoW1 account, which features the Rogue character, remains active.
I chose to file an appeal. Since November 28, I have submitted approximately 20 appeals, all resulting in an upheld decision despite my detailed explanations. I genuinely do not understand what I did wrong to warrant the bans on my three new accounts. My considerations are as follows:
MASS REPORT?
While leveling, I encountered two players who noticed my four characters questing together. They engaged me in conversation, inquiring about the programs I used for multiboxing, to which I responded that I manage everything manually, as any software would violate the Terms of Use. On another occasion, a random player followed me for about 30 seconds without any apparent reason before returning to his path. Perhaps he perceived my setup as suspicious and reported me after observing the four characters following one another.
IP ISSUE?
I don’t use a VPN, however, I did take my laptop to a different location (approximately two miles away) on two occasions and played there for about an hour.
NEW ACCOUNT RESTRICTIONS?
- The new accounts were banned, while the old account was not.
- I have read that new accounts face restrictions on using the Auction House, Trading, and Mail for the first month. I recall purchasing an axe with my Rogue (WoW1 - old, not banned account) and subsequently trading it to my Warrior (WoW2 - new, banned account). I never listed anything for sale on the Auction House, but I did trade items among all four accounts. Could that be the reason that the new ones got banned?
Has anyone encountered a similar situation and can provide guidance on what might have gone wrong? I’ve come across information indicating that many individuals have faced bans recently - could this potentially be a case of a false positive?
