6 months season are bad
Blizzard should capitalize FOMO syndrome and apply it to the length of PvP seasons, which is defined as the fear of missing out on rewards.
6 months season are bad
hard to tell if this is supposed to be bait but it’s unironically correct
12-15 week seasons 6-7 in an expansion
every 2 shares an elite set / mount just recolored
is easily the best way to incentivize consistent participation
the reason seasons have these long dead gaps in the middle of them is because people think they can just not play until the end to abuse inflation and minimize effort
that is easily single handedly the biggest issue in the entirety of WoW PvP
but ironically giga long seasons are perceived as “good” because it gives weaker players more time and less stress technically fighting against fomo
(but it’s not actually benefitting them the way they think)
3-month seasons would solve quite a few issues, but their tuning must be much more on point.
3 months is too short. Conquest gains would have to be increased significantly and it doesn’t give people enough time to feel like they can still join in the season without being too far behind.
The problem with PVP is it is tied to PVE and ilvl scaling per tier.
You can’t do 3 month seasons cus ilvl would scale out of control and became BiS in PVE tiers.
The simple way to implement this is what I said before. Take a system like BDO has where PVP gear is fixed stats/ilvl moving foward forever. Your outside gear has nothing to do with the gear options offered in PVP. Its a template sort of but with mulitiple gear options for gems/enchants/secondaries.
So our outside gear could be 900ilvl but instanced arena gear would forever main 400 or w.e. It makes tuning easier and lets them come up with good set bonus and keep it that way.
3 month seasons could then be implemented. Another thing BDO does it there is TONS of rewards for having better gear progression outside of arena earned from participating in arena. Also ingame monetary gains the higher you climb. Along with like R1 transmogs for being top that are exclusive as well.
Bottom line you disentangle PVP and PVE in regards to gearing/lvl and have it be its own thing like i said above it would be far easier to balance and offer a better variety of rewards to encourage participation.
That would be a good thing. It shortens the gearing process and the early season shenanigans where some thing are disgustingly op or terrible before being fully geared.
Right now they’ve been implanting the mid season ilv boost in pvp and pve. You just time that with the new season and she the buffed ilv be the new pvp gear ilv. It couldn’t be easier for them rn.
But I’m also super down with them just spectating the two. I’ve been preaching for them to make the tournament realm system the go to way to play pvp. It would also create a system where new players would be able to just hop in and play arena and have a new pvp pipeline other than pve players who wanna try it out and enjoy it.
The people who would benefit most from this change are those who gear fast early on and push. Not everyone has that kind of time.
You mean the people who play the game? Also no it would be good for the casuals who play less too, since they’d be able to gear faster.
Is that a perma thing going foward? Its still going to create constant scaling and tuning issues every season as it always has with the constant stat changing.
BDO did it right. 3v3 is forever in soft cap gear and no matter how explosive stats become with real gear on outside its set to soft cap with the former boss gear in arena.
It gives it a stable baseline to tune/balance off and not need constant readjustments to addess scaling and interactions with stat jumps on every spec. Which solves any present and future tuning issues.
I get this may be “boring” to some people and they want out of control tuning and tier sets and then begging for fotm nerfs daily but anchoring 3s to a fixed stat point and balancing everything to a solid point turns it into a skill thing and less of a blizzard created meta off poor balance and lack of tuning nonstop. Sure every season may “feel” the same because not much changes but isn’t that what we want? Good rewards and less tuning drama?
Who knows, they’ve done it the last two. And if they do it’s the perfect excuse to make shorter pvp season.
So back to templates then? Which I’m also completely down for.
Its not really templates exactly.
There is multiple gear set options and you pick gems/enchants etc and click save and thats what you pop into arena with.
Its template in the sense of its all softcap ilvl boss gear and you have like 3 gear options to choice whethers its like evasion or damage reduction or w.e think of like choosing haste/vers chest or vers/mastery chest and do the same for each slot.
Best way to put it is ike all arena gear is high warlord options forever. You create ur gear loadout and thats it for arena. You may be wearing Midnight S3 PVE gear but that does not carry over to arena only your high warlord stuff is on in arena.
This puts a stop to tuning madness and lets them fine tune every class to exactly where they want in PVP without this constant amg A and B suck and X is insanely op pls nerf halp us its been 3 months where tunign!?!?!
pvp will always generally feel the same and there would be slight changes from talent/spec changes but not the issues stat scaling and tier sets create every season
from there its about just having a solid lineup of rewards to que for.
So just templates where you can select stat prio.
I think lost ark had something similar. Where out of all the secondary stats you just click your main and secondary stat distributions. Which imo is a really nice and simple way to do it.
Ya so it looks like this
Different gear/stats/gems etc just think of it like a fixed point of time and the gear doesn’t change every season.

You can alter your loadout at anytime. Just clarifying its not like legion templates or anything.
Gems here have a ton more effects and similar to enchants with their own set bonus. Things like damage reduction, evasion and accuracy to matter so thats the differences. WoW could easily do something similar with a fixed ilvl for pvp and different set options, tier sets, enchants and just keep it the same every season for the sake of stable tuning/balance
So for the first time ever I decided I wanted glad (LOVE THE MOUNT), and I knew I needed to start spamming games at the beginning of the season. Hit 2k on both my rshams about a month ago, which when I checked about 10 or 15 random also 2k rated players on the leader boards, most were glads/mglads. So I felt REALLY good. Team felt good, we were meshing. Fast forward a month and we’ve had only one session since and now I feel like utter trash just bouncing 1800-1950s. It’s definitely a me problem often, but I just miss our team comp man we had it down and I think it was comfy for me. Now I’m feeling close to burn out because I think I’m garbage again
