but you still didnt answer the question. how much compensation do you truly believe you should get for 2-3 hours? come on, do that math and see how much you should be compensated. 720 hours in a 30 day month… how much money should you get for 2-3 hours, come on, knock it out!
You asked that to someone else.
You need to settle down man, you’re wildin.
no attitude… just legitimately asking how much compensation someone expects for 2-3 hours downtime. I’m calm “bud”!
why not do what black desert does for every single downtime/ extension, how bout give me 3 hours of 100% bonus exp, or maybe some stupid battle pet i don’t have… anything is better then nothing. i work everyday so i don’t care but black desert does it right. how bout double gather rates for 3 hours or what ever the unexpected time was… literally anything. and after 6 months you have like 24 hours double exp rate and can make a alt quick. there’s so much they could do that means nothing to them and everything to players.
Being super general with the numbers.
WoW has been active for 20 years. A year has 52 weeks, so WoW has been active for 1040 weeks.
Maintenance lasts on average (across the game’s lifespan) 2 hours. 2 x 1040 = 2080 hours of maintenance.
A month’s sub time is 15 bucks, 30 days. 15 / 30 = $0.50 for a day’s sub, 50 / 24 = $0.02 for an hour of sub time.
2080 hours of maintenance * $0.02 sub time per hour is…
$41.60.
Trying to make rent, or something?
lol this guys acts like he reads the TOS for everything he signs up for, and expects that most people do the same. The bottom line is that customers pay for the base game, expansions, AND a monthly free. So next one would naturally ask what the monthly fee is for.
this math has been done in every other thread whining about maintenance.
$14.99 a month. 12 months a year = $179.88 a year
365 days x 24 hours = 8760 hours a year non-leap year
1 hour of gametime = $0.02534246575342
oh i know, but these people keep complaining. are they expecting $0.06 for the 3 hours? LOL it blows my mind.
That is incredibly bad which is why people are upset. 99.999% uptime in the industry standard of what to aim for at a minimum. Many cloud providers would refund you in full if you had a 97% uptime.
not acting like anything. do the math… 2-3 hours is nothing in your “monthly free”. so one would naturally assume that those $0.06 they are missing out on for an extended maintenance is not a huge deal lol.
true we should go back to full 8 hours every tuesday. at least we knew what to expect.
Industry standard of what exactly?
That tells me nothing, only time I’ve ever heard about that being the “Ideal” was a corporate call center, which is not the same as a video game.
97% of up time is 163 hours out of 168 hours of the week (The Absolute worse possible scenario) where you can play your game without any downtime.
People need to get a life.
If blizzard was having hours long outages (Non scheduled downtime) then maybe you’d have a vague point, but I still think it’d be ridiculous.
This isn’t an outage, maintenance time isn’t outage times.
To be fair, they did give [at least some of] us a day of game time a couple weeks ago due to the extended downtime on the last patch. Not sure why everyone is forgetting that so quickly; if you didn’t notice and claim it that’s on you.
Anyway, while I agree it’s frustrating, especially since there are many major bugs that still haven’t been fixed in spite of all the downtime…I don’t know that it warrants much more significant compensation. At least not at this point.
Hey is this another thread of people complaining about losing 45 cents per month?
I was just replying to your “its in the contract” response. I agree that on a monthly scale, a few hours is like giving people $0.50 in a class action lawsuit. I’m not going to demand compensation but I like the principle of them doing it, if for nothing else then costing them money for making these mistakes. They have no incentive to change the way they do things because most people that play WoW will never quit the game over extended maintenance, it’s too petty of a reason, but still pretty annoying.
You seem more angry than the OP, lol.
I’m not remotely angry? If you are reading anger into my posts, that is on you.
I just find all the people crying for “Compensation” for maintenance to be ridiculous.
Yeah telling people to get a life is super chill.
Maybe you’re just rude to strangers a lot and you think it’s ok.
I demand compensation in the form of a full set of ilvl 700 BiS gear for all of my level 80s, as it is plainly obvious that I could have farmed that with my eyes closed during the maintenance period.
Any time maintenance goes over 15 minutes, and especially when it is during my extremely limited available gaming time, I should also have an apology personally delivered by Bill Gates to my house along with at least 5% stake in Microsoft.
So out of 168~ hours in a 24 hour 7 day a week period the game is up 163.
Do you realize how atrociously entitled this makes you sound?
