2v2 help please

Hey fellow pvp’ers

What class would you recommend for someone wanting to be a healer in strictly the 2v2 bracket? My friends mainly play Frost DK and assa rogue, so it would be one of those + healer.

I have tried a few specs, and these are my first impressions. (Keep in mind I’m not very good )

Rsham: I like the feel of this class, but there are a LOT of keybinds. By far my heaviest keybind class. Overwhelms me a little, feel like it would take awhile to get it down.

Rdruid: Can see how good this can be with the damage & the CC it provides. I get kind of stuck figuring out when to go offensive, and whether I should be using cat or going caster form wrath/starsurge to be offensive

Hpal: Love how many “outs” this spec has. Seems like there is an answer for everything. The downside is that I have a stun and blind which DR’s with my partners, and I also seem to OOM the fastest on this healer.

Disc: I have barely played this one… but seems like it has pretty high potential? Unsure of mana efficiency & damage because I haven’t played any 2s on it yet.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Would like to climb in TWW… hoping to hit 2k if at all possible.

Just my opinions:

TLDR:

  • Rdruid hands down if you aren’t worried about a heavy learning curve + lots of keybinds.

  • Disc priest if you are okay being aggressive with damage + care about keybind requirements/learning curve.

Stay away from holy paladin. If I’m not mistaken, it is historically the worst healer or one of the worst healers in nearly every season for 2v2.

Rdruid is quite often the best healer, but also has the highest skill cap/keybind requirement. Rsham is similar, but imo Rdruid is almost always if not always the hands down BEST HEALER for 2v2.

Hpal and disc are much easier to play effectively + both seem to be pretty solid atm, but disc and hpal are quite often left in the dust in more seasons than not, and hpal is almost always a trash tier healer for 2v2. Disc can be really good in 2s though, especially if you are in comms and you play aggressively.

I see you left off mistweaver/fistweaver, holy priest, and preservation evoker, but will still give my thoughts on those.

Holy priest can be just as good if not better than disc sometimes, largely because of their stun/chastise, but currently disc is far superior to holy now (that could change after any given pvp tuning pass though). Holy healing just feels weak atm.

Mw/Fw, yeah, just stay away from those atm. Mistweaver can be really strong, but if 2v2 is your main focus, I would still be thinking about other healing specs.

Preservation evoker is really strong, and from what I hear, not too difficult. You have great offensive pressure, and a kit that makes you a nightmare to many specs, not to mention the broken nullifying shroud ability which makes you largely immune to cc against a lot of comps.

At the end of the day, I’d recommend playing and working towards improving on the spec(s) you actually find the most fun to play, but if you’re really concerned about being a meta healer for 2s, then Rdruid or whichever healing priest spec is stronger at the time is generally the way to go (imo).

Bourbons thank you so much for your detailed thoughts! They are super helpful. I had only left off monk and dragon because I hadn’t tried them yet. I am open to both of those classes though. I played caster MW a few months back and really enjoyed it, but I had heard they weren’t good at all right now so I figured it would be best to leave them out.

I hear dragons are great, but everytime we face one in 2s as double dps they just flop over. That is very likely just a skill-issue on their part though I would assume?

I appreciate your advice, and being able to cross Hpal off the list. One of the biggest things I struggle with as a healer in arena is mana. I seem to ALWAYS oom before my opponent does. I need to figure out what I am doing wrong there.

Does anyone in here know if cat or caster is better as Rdruid to help add in damage throughout a match?

Very much looking forward to getting better in 2s as a healer!

TL;DR Resto druid or Holy priest

Resto druid is just in general THE best healer in 2s bar none.

Hpriest also has a lot of synergy with both of those DPS classes because it brings its own ranged CC that can be used flexibly on the enemy healer or on a kill target. Also, it has some of the best controlled burst to go along with their gos. Plus MC Off of a rogue kidney shot on a dps is very good!

Dragon is another good one, but is harder to play.

If you record your gameplay, I’m happy to review it for you!

Caster is better and safer, but costs way more mana (which may already be a risk for you)

Nasrajin thank you  I did not even consider Hpriest, I guess I should! It’s better than disc eh? Mainly because of chastise?

I don’t do any screen recording but maybe I should haha that’s not a bad idea. TY for the offer to help.

I think it’s narrowed down to rdruid, hpriest and MAYBE dragon. That is already so helpful for me to get focused
