Why blizz CBA’d to tune all the games PVP environments accordingly.
That’d be such a mess oh my god Imagine going from mode to mode and having abilities just be 10-20% more or less effective.
I mean in those specific environments targeting the power of offensive and defensive abilities and cooldown on abilities is not an impossible task to do.
I think balancing the game around 3s and not having aura specific tuning in other PVP formats isn’t good at all and time has shown that.
No, it isn’t, it’s just the disorientation people would have going mode to mode and having their kits shift around numerically, and that’s before we even think of mechanical changes like rogues/druids breaking blitz.
While that might feel jarring its not an impossible task and it feeling disorientating shouldn’t be a justification to let some specs be basically invulnerable and unbeatable in other areas of games PVP environments.
One of those you’ll get used to it things. If my blink is 5 seconds longer in open world PVP and shields 25% less effective I’d get over it and adjust.
You’d need more homogenization. The better answer is to stop chasing esport level balance and accept that it’s an mmo. Make sure each spec has an obvious niche and don’t ever let something underperform. Quick small targeted tuning.
Ideally 3v3 is what’s tuned off because it’s a higher level of play generally where a specs full kit is being used and that niches are clear enough that it translates into larger scale
They should balance around the solo modes because the premade brackets (3s) will play whatever is 1% better anyways.
I mean, the same goes for shuffle/blitz. People have even less class loyalty in there.
That’s the problem is if we go full maintenance mode solo q balance all melee specs need an MS an intervene a charge. The classes need more homogonized idk how to spell tf word
Side note are we ever gonna get rating achieves for shuffle?
Extremely easy and necessary. Trinket bonus lower in arena and higher in bg. Youd have to find a happy medium between stam and primary differences but this would take an hour of testing I’d imagine
Shuffle is spec based, so nothing has to be homogenized. If a spec is over performing then you nerf its strengths and buff under performing spec’s weaknesses. For example, boomy isn’t know for its insane damage, so nerf their ability to control. If DH is over performing, nerf their stun and damage accordingly.
They shouldn’t try to balance specs for BGB because that’s an entirely different game mode the same way mythic plus is. For that they should balance objectives.
Frost dk immediately crushes your point. Horrible in shuffle in DF but had its strong niche in ladder. If they just buffed it to compete in solo it would’ve wrecked the ladder
Its not even really chasing esports balance.
Some specs are clearly designed more around 3s and perform poorly in 2s, shuffle, bgs or wpvp or are just overpowered/overperforming in every aspect of PVP and we resolve ourselves to say welp its balanced around 3s, wpvp/2s/bgs dont matter
When all it takes is specific kit adjustments to reign them in those aspects of the game.
There is nothing wrong with this though. If a spec needs an MS or mobility adjustment in 2s but it doesn’t have access to it in 3s this is literally fine.
Same can be applied for BGs, if a spec is only good in 3s but sucks in bgs/epic bgs or shuffle then address the power of its abilities/cooldowns in those environments so its not useless.
This is how you make an MMO an mmo. Playing the race/class/spec combination you enjoy without the PVP format mattering or affecting it much.
I have said this for forever !!! For the most part we shouldn’t be nerfing anyone just small buffs to underperforming specs until some semblance of balance it doesn’t have to be perfect but let everyone feel important/worth being there.
Edit: I’m not a 3v3 guy due to time constraints but I agree the game really should be tuned around the top end of game play in pvp and that is the 3s bracket.
No, because it’s spec based. 2400 is achievable and there were 2900 Fdks. There won’t be fdks in the #1 overall spot, but that’s okay because the top rewards are % based for the individual spec.
There were 0 r1 frost dks in 3s tho.
Titles for the cream of the crop. The best of the best some might say.
While possible i cannot see them doing this. I dont think it is a good idea.
I actually agree with this more. Plus there’s no shot Blizzard spends that much time balancing PvP for each specific mode. I would love to know what the “pvp devs” do for 90% of their time throughout the year but Lord knows it’s not actually spent on pvp stuff.
Idk i think thats just accepting low effort and not voicing concerns like I am here why things are not held to a higher standard.
Even if blizzard staff never reads this post or cares its still pointing out the game in all of its PVP formats can be done better or an effort made to improve on it.
As opposed to just accepting hey its not balanced for any of these, X spec is trash here, X spec is OP here. Deal with it
Exactly. this isn’t a small indie company were talking about. Where is the effort?
