2Degrees NZ - High Latency Oceanic Server

Hi, currently I am having high latency and issues on the oceanic server barthilas.

I am in New Zealand and my ISP is 2degrees. I am on gigabit fibre with a wired ethernet connection.

Usually my latency is 40-45ms. The game has run smoothly for the last few years on this connection and I have had no issues.

Last night as I was raiding I noticed the game would stutter/pause. I checked and also saw that my latency to both home and world was up around 200ms.

I left it overnight and logged back in today. When I first log it the latency is stable at around 40ms, over time however it creeps up and I hit 200 again. I am still getting the stuttering (packet loss?) and the game freezes for a second - this occurs maybe once every 30 seconds.

I have run a Winmtr and a traceroute which are attached below. The traceroute was run shortly after the winmtr.

Please note had to edit the eqsy4 lines as they ended in .net and .com forum thinks im trying to post a link. Made them .nt and .cm instead.

I can confirm, I have the exact same problem, with the same isp.

Is it it our ISP or one of the hops on the way to the wow server?

Both these hops are losing packets. It’s within your ISP’s routing path 3rd hop out so it would not hurt to inform them of the issues.

Hey, Munchkinn, Arganna, I have same ISP, and the exact same issue. It started a few days ago. Any ideas of what to do? I am on Frostmourne.

All you can do is contact our isp and wait until someone fixes it.

I thought it had been fixed, but I am seeing it again this morning. Have you contacted 2degrees?

I’m also on 2degrees in NZ, also about 5% packet loss at as23655.nsw.ix.asn.au (occurs in about 10-15sec durations, making quacking extremely annoying to avoid). No packet loss to anything else I can think of trying.

Did anyone raise this with 2degrees?

Hey all,

I’ve updated the thread title to better describe what’s going on here. It does look like this is a local ISP issue, so it’s not something we’re going to be able to help with on our end most likely. You’re welcome to post winMTR tests if you’re on this ISP or having problems with the same nodes. Just want to set some proper expectations.

I’d recommend reaching out to your ISP with these tests and use a VPN client or mobile tether to work around the issue in the mean time. This may let you bypass the connectivity issue with your ISP.

I just spoke with 2degrees, my call was 2nd reported incident, they’ll try to get to the bottom of it. It would help if all of us affected call them

This is my stats. Outage occurs in 10-15sec duration spikes.

I will also contact them tomorrow, in the meantime you can try a VPN to Aussie. Seems to work with about 48 to 49 ms and no lag.

Also 2 Degrees and getting this issue…almost impossible to play in large groups.

Hi guys, over here also on 2Degrees and seeing the same issue I had to sit out with our Mythic progression raid, game would completely freeze for few seconds.

Also I am on 1Gbps UFB and speed of my line has droped from 930 to 450, I have been calling them but nothing or no fault were found or they are BS me.

Yes I cant raid.

I suggest everyone logs a job with 2degrees, hopefully if enough of us do, they will try and contact the isp/server along the routing path and we can get this fixed.

ATM they are in a states of DENIAL.
Called them twice today and all I got is no fault to the network.

Adding to that 2nd tech answered my call was saying gonna e-mail me a check list from enable for me to do.
Never received the e-mail and that’s 7 hours ago.

I can confirm this is the same issue with myself and another mate both with 2 Degrees and in different locations in NZ.
I too have spoken with 2 Degrees and this is the only game I am having these issues with, I am inclined to believe 2 Degrees that the issue isn’t on their end, I have only had this issue since Thursday night when 2 patches finished downloading (8.1.5 predownload and another smaller update).

Should be resolved now. I believe it was fixed as of late last night.

I can confirm resolved around 9pm or so local time on Sunday evening.

I used a VPN that has the same hop with packet loss to Wow Oce servers (as23655.nsw.ix.asn.au), and had no issues to play Wow, while fault was still affecting non-vpn connection. I’m inclined to claim that it wasn’t 2degrees fault, but rather their upstream provider.

Thanks for the updates and glad things are looking better. If anyone is still experiencing this issue while on 2Degrees, please do let us know and be sure to provide the WinMTR results requested previously!
