will this give players quicker access to epic mounts?
They were fun for the whole time they were there, and if theyâd been kept around, I wouldnât have unsubscribed for 10 years.
But yes, they were changed for a few whiners who couldnât handle PVE mixed in with their PVP. The whiners got what they deserved, though: they got race AVs where the only fighting was the final PVE boss fight.
1.12 version is not a race fyi
Thereâs literally no time limit and no reinforcements mechanic.
1.12 version is not a race fyi
Absolutely it was.
The point that no one seems to piece together is that it doesnât matter what patch they model AV from. Honor as a currency derived from wining and not from killing other players is what turned AV and every other BG into a PvE zergfest. So long as they make killing another player more valuable than âwinningâ the end objective then there will be long and epic fights. This is why camping the GY in WSG used to be popular. It was the most efficient way to farm your next title and could make a WSG last forever.
Once they make the end objective worth more than actually fighting other players, long epic fights will cease to exist. This is how 2nd order effects work.
In AV, though, removal of the NPCs was what made honor from winning faster than honor from killing.
Iâm in a thread agreeing with Paladins, yep.
Back to the subject, I was in a 2 day match back then. It was glorious.
I have no desire to be in anymore, even if I had the time for them.
Part of me wishes Blizzard would have said nothing and just secretly worked on this (classic as a whole) and then dropped the news a few months before launch. The best part is I bet everyone complaining about it not being âtheir approved version of AVâ will still play regardless and enjoy the experience. Be happy with what you are given because you could have had nothing at all.

I see things from the following perspective.
What was so fun for me about Vanilla? It was realm only pvp, days of AV and the solo q ranking system. Sure I also raided Naxx und stuff, but the main aspect of Vanilla was the PVP system and how I knew my friends and foes.
If we now roll with 1.12. then I will face xrealm, nerfed AV and most likely a ranking system that can be exploided by afk leeching in the cave of AV. For me, that is no fun at all.
I do play BFA, I have the old content there if I want to play it. MC is still MC, I run it weekly on my Druid, so do I with BWL. Sure, a few items were removed from the loot tables, but since we can not unlock these transmogs from Vanilla if we play there, the whole purpose to play Classic is just gone.
It offers me nothing that I don´t already have, except for ZG and Naxx, but those two raids are so far ahead, maybe a year from release on, that I just don´t feel motivated to play a game with content that I already have access too.
If we had a true progress from 1.1 onwards, I could play until 1.12 and be done with it. It´s btw the excact time I quit WOW the first time, a few weeks after 1.12. as it wasn´t fun anymore. To now play a game that is based on the time of my least fun of Vanilla, doesn´t make sense.
If we could unlock the old transmogs, then this would change, it would give me a purpose to play, but so, classic offers me nothing that I don´t already have on BFA, except the mentioned things.
What they need to do is keep old AV as is and make a new BG

BIN-FREAKING-GO.

Doubtful. I can get 1.12 AV on Retail. Why would I bother with Classic for it?

You played for the full 2 days? Most people just zoned in, fought for a while, got a bunch of kills, maybe took an objective, and left. One of the best things about the multiday AVs was that you could stay in for as long or as short as you liked.
Summer vacation as a young teen :3
It was an experience to say the least.
From a programming perspective 1.12 is the only option. There is no other alternative, finacially or technically.
They either waste resources and man hours reconstructing AV from 1.5 and rebuild it by hand up to wow classic (ie 1.12) since -REMEMBER- the jigsaw puzzle is incomplete and 1.12 is the only complete piece.
besides, lets be honest with ourselves. 8hr AV matches would get old after a month. No one under the age of 28 would feel nostalgic for that and want it. Iâm 33 and I say no thank you. Give me 1.10-1.12 plz.
Donât forget all the data loss they suffered as a result of how they used to do patches â directly overwriting the previous patch.
Itâs entirely probable that they donât even have a 1.5 AV to give us in the first place.
Offer nothing better than PSs and players like me will continue to play neither.
Oldschool day 25ish player here. 2 day AV were fun for a time, and continued to be fun. I couldnât spend hours upon hours in AV, so Iâd leave the BG and do something else, but then return later and it was fun again.
10 minute AVs, on the other hand, were never fun. I hated running AV in TBC when quick games were guaranteed by reinforcements and when it was required for marks. AV 1.5 is for people who love AV. AV 1.12 is for people who hate AV and just want it to end.
Having accurate data is already better than what private servers have on offer.
