All of the 800 people in Australia and nz playing won’t warrant oceanic servers
The reason SoM and SoD lost its playerbase on the AU realms is because people weren’t interested in those game modes. Fresh era realms will be a different story because Classic progressing into TBC is a core game mode that will attract sustain many players in the oceanic region.
Exactly what Im saying, its just not the same as SoM or SoD. back in 2019 classic popped off in OCE and having a chance to do that journey again. lets hope it happens.
Arugal had 2-3k queues during peak classic launch, surely alot more than 800 will be rejoining for the experience come Friday
+1
Think most assume there will be one and are busy deciding which class, and will kick off in the forums after release when they realize theyll be playing laggy bs like 20 years ago
The reality these days in the Infrastructure space as well, is that spinning up servers is not difficult, nor expensive (From a business perspective) using AWS / Azure or GCP (Though I’ve not used GCP myself). Dependant on how they’re structured, and the app requirements (For WoW’s Server App), they may not even need new “servers” to spin up new realms… In which case the cost is even lower.
I wouldn’t say OCE is still completely healthy in Cata. Pvp queues have been combined with USW since wotlk.
Honestly, your pvp experience won’t be noticeably different with 150ms instead of 5ms. You will still be ganked, you will still be out numbered, you will still find rogues camping you. You might fail to fake cast sometimes, but lets be honest, that was going to fail anyway.
You are more likely to have a noticeably different experience with battlegrounds popping every hour of the day and world pvp going off all the time with a large population all hours of the day.
Battlegrounds are already linked in battlegroups so there is reduced waiting time for that, where as I cant see many US players logging in running dungeons/raids/world pvping at 1am onwards which would be prime time for Australia - 7pm etc
If you look at the current OCE community for Classic and SoD, players have been asking to free transfer to US mega servers.
Sure the initial months OCE realms are sustainable with big population, but ongoingly it becomes harder to find consistent raid groups / pugs
Yep. before x-realm they ranted. A lot, about lack of pvp outside of CTA weekends.
Also its 3800 horde to 544 alliance by WCL (when I checked yesterday anyway). yes I know not the best numbers. Its all we have to guestimate though.
This pvp server if made unless they scare up 3000 more alliance…would be horde creation locked the first 1000 horde sign ups.
And that is me being nice allowing 544 to 1000. and all 544 alliance come over.
See if I was a butthat about it…I’d have that locked at 600. 400 more to create another 2 on 1 server, I feel benevolent today.
Remulos won’t come to save them. Remulos has the people who will not join the arugal borg collective. If they go era, they’d go US PVE.
You never run into range issues with 200ms? Where you are on top of your target but they register as out of range?
It’s frustrating as hell.
pls oce servers or my friends won’t sub
support!!!
Please OCE servers
+1 for an OCE server.
To throw my 2 cents in, (and I can only speak for myself and my group of mates), but we played through classic and TBC, WoTLK/SOD just wasn’t for us which is why we fell* off playing those versions of the game.
I doubt our group are unique at all stopping at the start of WoTLK, there would be many more people who would come out of the woodwork for another chance of fresh Classic/TBC in our region.
+1 server ty
What worries me at the moment, is that I’m wondering if the silence is deafening. There have been many posts, and replies to the main 20th Anniversary announcement thread asking about OCE Realms. It doesn’t take much for Blizzard to comment and stop anyone else having to post on the forums.
This probably means either:
-OCE Realms are planned as OCE is a “Region” and therefore no comment is necessary, and commenting may solicit people from other regions asking for their own realms.
-OCE Realms are not planned, as OCE is part of the NA Region from Blizzard’s perspective. Remaining silent therefore is intentionally preventing any additional angst such an an announcement could generate.
Unfortunately, I’d guess that the latter is more likely
What the sh*t. I just heard about Classic Anniversary and resubbed for 6 months specifically to play it. I had no idea that not having OCE servers was conceivable for Blizzard. Guessing I can’t get that $100+ back now.
- Angry (and clearly over-eager) OCE player
I subbed just so I could reply.
Please OCE servers. I don’t think it’s fair to compare classic era and TBC with SoD numbers.
