20th Anniversary Event - You guys cant do anything right can you?

Time gated FOMO content that requires 3 weeks to grind out 1 tier set for the 20th anniversary event ? Seriously you call this a celebration ? This is nothing but a chore list given to the player base to prolong engagement and player daily metrics. You know I’m starting to feel like content developers have KPI’s that got introduced into the content they are required to push out.

We are tired of this Blizzard. We just want to have fun and collect cool cosmetics. This is supposed to be celebration not a mindless grind fest. Your pushing away everyone who plays the game with every patch you deploy like this.

This is the very definition of an abusive relationship.

Blizzard: WE HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR WE WONT DO THIS ANYMORE

Next Patch

Player: You did it again!

Next Expansion

Blizzard: We have changed our design philosophy I promise we have learned our lesson.

Player: Yupp same garbage again just in a different wrapper this xpac.

This has literally been happening since the beginning and we don’t believe you anymore. Instead of wasting your developers and employees time pushing out content fixes because you cant do anything that the player base agrees with the 1st time around how about you design it right the first time with the player in mind and not your PLAYER ENGAGEMENT METERICS. I think you will coincidently find out that when your player base is not mass protesting every decision you make that involves these metrics on the forums that your profits will increase BECAUSE YOUR PLAYERS MIGHT ACTUALLY BE HAPPY AND STAY SUBSCRIBED TO THE GAME!

Every post like this is available and open on the internet. You think new or returning players want to play this game when there is nothing but negativity between the player base and the game designers ? This is business 101.

Yes we are in a Skinner box that we pay to play.

I mean like 20 years at that stage you must be loving it to stick around that long.

Clearly it can’t be so bad.

What are the sources for the stuff? What makes you think you can only get 20 per week?

Nothing wrong with time sensitive event rewards.

I really want the celebration to feel fun. Exciting. It’s 20 years! This game can almost drink legally in the US!

I don’t mind some work, but keep it fun. Simple and straightforward. Get people doing activities that reminisce the 20 years (40 person Ragnaros raids, a good Leeeeeeroy Jenkins scenario that you have to try to win, etc).

Blizzard, please keep in mind that the people who stuck it out (more or less) for 20 years have kids/lives/families of their own and want to just celebrate and not grind everything. Let us celebrate!

Going onto the PTR and looking at the daily quests, each tier set costs 60 currency and you only get like 5 or so a day, not sure if they will change it but so far they dont give much

After the first set you purchase, the other sets get discounted. Is this calculated in?

is that per character and what level do the characters need to be, is that with or without the additional tokens from the dailies that you unlock at 100 tokens?

Just hopped on the ptr, I have 3 daily quests that give me 3 tokens each, so unless there are more or some quests dont have rewards, thats 9 per day, which is ~1 week for a set. You do get 3 tokens for the intro quest though so thats something at least. Still very bad though

I have no idea Im just going off the base values for the first set you get. Which will take like 6 days to get ^.^

its 340 or 360 tokens for just the sets, there is more stuff to buy than just the sets.

I believe I saw on Wowhead that it’s per account.

So many people upset about the anniversary event. It’s supposed to be a celebration and then they have all these currencies with timegating weeklies and dailies.

People are getting burnt out on this stuff

Oof, yeah I really hope they get away from dailies ASAP. I’m lucky if I even get to play one or very rarely two times a week.

If the Anniversary event allows me to get all of the class sets, I’ll definitely pick up TWW and hopefully get back into the swing of things. But it sure seems like they’re being way too conservative.

20 years IS the big event. We shouldn’t be precluded from getting all the cool stuff for it for several more years.

Holy hell, it actually takes that long?

Yeah they made what used to be a daily quest into a weekly and that massively dropped how fast you get stuff.

Well…

Some of us do like having things worth putting in more time and effort than press button - get loot.

Not that anything might be worth it, but sometimes it’s the effort required that sets things apart and makes it worth it.

“We choose to do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”

They have the most clueless reward designers on the planet.
